loserone Posted February 23, 2014 Author Posted February 23, 2014 Brutal. Hey, Eddy, you know this thing is slightly smaller than a certain white volvo.. eddyramrod 1
eddyramrod Posted February 23, 2014 Posted February 23, 2014 Slightly? It would fit in the Volvo's glovebox! It also has too many pedals, but the price makes it very hard to ignore. I am trying though... You all know how much willpower I have, or more precisely don't have.
loserone Posted February 23, 2014 Author Posted February 23, 2014 And the volvo has too few, but I could probably justify a load lugger to SWMBO! (and in turn it might justify how much of her garden I'm planning on stealing for garage) The car's a couple of miles north of Durham City currently.
DVee8 Posted February 23, 2014 Posted February 23, 2014 The car's a couple of miles north of Durham City currently. So am i
loserone Posted February 23, 2014 Author Posted February 23, 2014 You might have just heard my father storming round the Arnison Centre bypass then! Apparently the discs are a bit rusty from sitting on the grass, but they cleared up by the time he was back home. That was his first time out in it properly, apparently it's a 'hooligan's car'. eddyramrod 1
DVee8 Posted February 23, 2014 Posted February 23, 2014 Is there any one around morning this week to have a look? This would be some collection thread all of around 4 mile Has it done may miles since the last test
loserone Posted February 23, 2014 Author Posted February 23, 2014 No collection thread this time, though perhaps we'll do a delivery one. Funds received from a mystery* buyer. KruJoe 1
loserone Posted February 23, 2014 Author Posted February 23, 2014 Phwoarr! Too late I'm afraid, but that's hot. (and SWMBO is stood behind me saying 'I always wanted a 240' )
dollywobbler Posted February 23, 2014 Posted February 23, 2014 Thank goodness for that. I was quite seriously eyeing up getting a 7:30am train, collecting a Mazda six hours later, then arriving home about five hours after that with a big grin on my face until I discovered that the locks had been changed on the house... Caffiend 1
KruJoe Posted February 23, 2014 Posted February 23, 2014 Relief from this side too! My resolve was faltering... One day I WILL have a valid excuse to own a 323.
catsinthewelder Posted February 23, 2014 Posted February 23, 2014 Resolve was faltering down here too so I'm glad it's gone, my dads in Durham so collection would have been both easy and time consuming. Don't panic DW I'd still have done the LR deal, the bus's place on the drive would have been sacrificed to the Japanese invasion. dollywobbler 1
eddyramrod Posted February 23, 2014 Posted February 23, 2014 Darn... oh well, saved from several months of own-time gearshifting, so that's a blessing at least. Back to Plan A (for Auto)... loserone 1
loserone Posted February 25, 2014 Author Posted February 25, 2014 I just middle-click pasted and lost the whole post. D'oh! Anyway, here's some pictures of clocks, ending at the end of the Great North Bike Ride.I understand it's been received with some enthusiasm, but from here on this isn't my story to tell
Jim Bell Posted February 25, 2014 Posted February 25, 2014 Great to meet you and the Mrs, and many thanks for letting me have it. Took it for a punt and I really love it. Very lively for a 1.8 and it sounds/drives amazing. Even the other half approves! I even let her have a go. MOT tmorrow, probably some welding at the weekend, then I'll start on the body. Not that any of it is particulary bad. Its probably the BEST £100 car in the history of everything. Loserone is the MAN. Top bearding too. Skizzer, loserone, dugong and 2 others 5
dugong Posted February 25, 2014 Posted February 25, 2014 TWO THINGS delivered this month, eh? Jim Bell 1
Jim Bell Posted February 26, 2014 Posted February 26, 2014 The News is good news: Yes!! 12 Months driving. Didnt take much. Rear hub/bearing, some exhaust bodging.Tester said he gave a lot of areas "a good fucking poke" and couldnt make any holes.Which is always a nice thing to hear. Some pics before I give it a good clean and start on the body. Thats the fed, monitoring me. To the inside: Electrics The interesting area: Areas for improvement: Thus far, I give it two big thumbs up. Had a blaz along my favorite lane, over a hump back a few times tonight. I pretty much AM Carlos Sainz now. Pretty much. drum, Jim Bergerac, scruff and 7 others 10

Jim Bell Posted February 26, 2014 Posted February 26, 2014 Cheers fella.I was due a bit of luck with shit, but its Loserone that deserves all of the cred. Hes a true shite visionary.Moving tat for less than scrap, to keep it on the road and see it dragged up to standard. Not many would.I take my hat off to him. I just rolled the dice.
loserone Posted February 26, 2014 Author Posted February 26, 2014 Hey, it worked, didn't it? It now has an MOT and is going to get more use than I've given it over the last year. Looks like I need a new avatar though, and I might decide my 14k/pa commute would be easier in something that isn't a 235k MX5.. Jim Bell 1
wuvvum Posted February 26, 2014 Posted February 26, 2014 Nice work. Gotta love pop-up headlights on a 5-door hatch - I think the 323F and the Honda Integra were the only cars ever sold here thus equipped? Liking the AS sticker too - although surely the phone number should be 5318008?
dollywobbler Posted February 26, 2014 Posted February 26, 2014 BRILLI-ANT! I have many envies. I shall use your MOT success as a weapon against my good lady, who was convinced that buying a car with a day's MOT on it was surefire folly. loserone, Twiggy, Jim Bell and 1 other 4

jbz2079 Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 What a good motor for that price, well done.Is it a shadow in the picture or is the battery well short of electrolite in that front cell? Jim Bell 1
Jim Bell Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 What a good motor for that price, well done.Is it a shadow in the picture or is the battery well short of electrolite in that front cell?I think you could be right there.
trigger Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 Winner, winner chicken dinner! I do like these, i've only ever driven the 1600's and they aren't bad, I bet the 1800 is a real screamer!
