Oh here we go, on eBay

Having heeded none of your good advice I've slung the car on eBay, because it's the easiest thing I can do from work thanks to my miserable lack of time. I put in the listing you can have it for scrap value if you want to 'buy it now'.

It's been on less than an hour and I've already had two questions including "hi mate so whats the scrap value and can u send me ur phone number plz"

I really take issue at that. Is this type of toss really the best people can come up with as a form of communicating? Maybe I should have put in the advert that I'll only reply to questions that arrive in proper English with correct grammar and punctuation (obvious mistakes excepted, of course, I'm not a complete ****). It's tempting to reply with "Go back to school and learn how to put a sentence together and I might consider talking to you"

"yer m8 scrap value is 135 cash only if u pick it up my numberz 0819 8008135 ring me yer"

the word 'scrap' is like red rag to a bull for these types. they think they might be able to take advantage of you, hence the messages.

Yes m8. Innit.

Mentioning the word scrap will only lead to a scrap.

Especially when it no longer comes with the steak and kidney Fray Bentos pie fitment.

I needed to sell the wifes car, after all the hassle with the ebay tossers when trying to sell my Lancer I decided to try Autotrader. Not used it for ages.

placed ad in autotrader at 2pm Sunday just gone, priced at £950 at 3pm I received a phone call, at 5pm they came to view and offered cash / asking price etc. Collected next day all for the princley sum of £17 ..

ebay has really fecked my off since you cant neg people, they just think they can bid for the hell of it with no consequence. When selling the lancer I had dozens of emails for pictures / requesting number / viewing etc. ONly one person rang me / same person that viewed it and he never bid - he said later he thought would only go for £200 !! Anyway thats my rant. The Lancer is now on car and classic so see what that brings .. person that won it didnt contact me for a week then said the usual bollox from pg 78 of 'book of ebay excuses on why you cant complete a sale'.. you know the one 1/2 down the page ...

It's getting to the stage that I'm going to have to try Ebay with the Range Rover. I'm not looking forward to it, though the CX and 90 V8 both did well on there to be fair. Saab goes on Saturday (staying in the 'family') so I'll work out what I'm doing with the Range Rover after that.

eBat goes through stages, mostly of the type that involves complete imbeciles asking flipping stupid questions. What pees me off is when people ask questions that are quite clearly already answered on the listing.

If it helps I find stating 'I won't answer any 'how much for cash/what's the reserve/what's the lowest you'll take for it/do you have a buy-it-now price' type questions, nor will I reply to anyone who uses 'txt tlk' or doesn't include words such as 'please' or 'thanks'.

It doesn't always work but the genuine to idiot ratio is much in the favour of genuine.

A Reserve is an area of land managed by a Native American tribe under the United States Department of the Interior's Bureau of Indian Affairs. There are about 310 Indian reservations in the United States, meaning not all of the country's 550-plus recognized tribes have a reservation  some tribes have more than one reservation, some share reservations, while others have none.

Sadly this response makes them mouth breathe louder

In the good old days, a toothbrush valet followed by a trip through the local evening auctions was a great way to get a car sold.

Autotrader does work well - I won't sell anything on Ebay, but buy a fair bit.

Sadly, I have a grave reservation about this post. Two, in fact.

1. Someone will build a shopping centre or casino on it.

2. I reckon you're being sarcastic. :D

I was going to suggest replying in ITA, but many of the dipthongs would be impossible to replicate on a standard keyboard. Try replying in a variety of foriegn languages instead such as Welsh, Latin and Celtic.

My dad's having a chuff of a time finding an early Dolly Sprint.... He's ventured down to Bishop Auckland and up past Aberdeen to look at two described as 'near concours' on the bay. Both were utter fucking snotters. The one in Bish rattled its front wings when the engine was started and the Jock twunt wanted four grand for something that (past the pretty paint) appeared to have been used as an anchor for a few years...
