Ipswich to Felixstowe Vehicle Run Photos - All done!

I thought i do a separate thread for these photos as there's so many off them, Hopefully you will all find something of interest here.

For the last 41 years there has been a classic car run which starts at Christchurch park here in Ipswich and finishes on the seafront at Felixstowe, This year was my first year doing it as last year rained, a lot.

At 10am i got myself in the park ready for the off at 11.30am, at this point there was a lot of cars turning up and lots of people taking photos, I was told that there was 600 vehicle in the end!.

As you can imagine 600 cars leaving at once can be a logistical nightmare so they let us out at a lane a time, Still it took us 1/2 hour just to get of the field, Once we was moving the streets were full of locals cheering and waving us, I've never seen anything like it, Literally 100's and 100's of people lining the streets from Ipswich to Felixstowe.

The journey was slow, what normally takes 20 mins in a car took us 2 hours, lots of stopping and starting with many cars starting to breakdown and overheat, Luckily my Kadett kept soldering on, We got parked up on the seafront about 2.30pm, there was a good 3 miles of top to tail classic cars, and it was all free.

A fantastic day out! Anyway less prattering and more photos!.

Thanks, There wasn't many taty cars TBH which is a shame because i am a bit of a fan of seeing "worn in" classics, There was plenty of Triumph Stags as well, I counted 25 in a row at one point!, Quite a few people were moaning about it, I have took a photo of them but it won't be until tomorrow now before i can update with MOR FOTOS.

Thanks for posting some great photos, Trig; having recently started off with Flickr I can appreciate the effort that you have put in for us I've never seen one of those Auto-Unions before, either, is it one of the last of the two-strokes or one of the first of the four-strokes? What a beauty of a Lancia Fulvia though, and I always enjoy the truck photos; I think that the Pickford's Atki was a heavy haulage one rather than removals, and from the electric, etc (air?) connections on the front bumper it looks as if it may have been used on the end of a load to help with braking and steering

The DKW F102s were all two-stroke, with mechanics based on the DKW Sonderclasse series. The Audi 60 which followed it and used a very similar bodyshell was a four stroke.

Excellent stuff Trigger! A few old favourites from local shows, good to see lots of local DX, RT, BJ etc registrations.

The Auto Union is the one I mentioned to you on Thursday, I got a lucky photo of it in Felixstowe the other week when it was driving along.

I love that Taunus coupe, took far too many photos of it at Henham the other year.

Great to see Terry had my old Starlet there. Perhaps I ought to bring the Laurel down for this next year.

Fantastic snap Trig, I dont know how you do it! The rear of the Austin 1800 is a new one on me. Loved seeing all the people on the side of the road waving and whatever, beats having stuff thrown at you!
