you have my sypathy

the same sort of nonsense happens around here, thats why i only keep a shitter at home and pay for storage.

sorry to hear that! It'll be a right pain finding the bits now.

TBH, i wouldn't get the police involved, at least not unless you know who did it, because, if you have to make a claim in the future, the ins co twats may try and weasel out of paying because you "have failed to disclose a loss".Of course, you may manage to win against them in court, but then find yourself unable to get any sort of insurance- remember, it all is a racket!

community copper just came round for a chat - problem is that we've had so much of this going on we have to report in order to get the patrols up - my insurance broker is pretty good - I told him and he recommended not reporting. These days I tend to find that if the policy isn't bargain basement you do seem to get a more reasonable attitude.

The community copper is well into his tin - just bought and fully fettled a lovely Fiat Coupe in Turbo flavour and loves his Fords having spent a fortune fettloing and modernising a mk5 Cortina. He said he's help me put some new heat shrink vinyl where it's damaged as it's easier with 2 folk...very good of him indeed

Sorry to hear about your damage, not surprised about the attitude of the copper.

I thought you needed good people skills to be a copper?

I feel your pain, scoots.

After a couple of incidents like this, I moved house. The thoughts of waiting around with a cricket bat of an evening aren't healthy

Little bastards, I hope they get a car one day and someone does the same to their's.

Have yout got a picture (from another car) of the missing trim piece , maybe one of us could try and spot on in a scrappy for you?

I can ask on the mong tastic VOC forum if you like. Let's have a photo and we can try and take it from there. FRF Volvo might be worth a call too - 01792 790066. They're based in Wales and do mail order for the semi - old Volvos.

Worth a go. He had stacks of older Volvos out there a few years back and he certainly used to break them as well as service them. It's a bit out in the sticks (just outside of Oswestry sort of on the way to Shrewsbury) but I expect he'd post out. Failing that drop me a p.m and if I get the chance I whang on down there and collect/post out for you.

Maybe I can source a part for you, its not a uncommon car at scrapyards here.

Have you got any visible anti-theft on the car? Scrotes are always going to target older cars as they're simple to nick.

B@stards!

looking on the brightside (if there is one), at least they didn't set it on fire after failing to take it.

yeah - thanks for the tips - I am a VOC member and the forum is a bit mong - especially the OMG T5 brigade.....

Thanks for the partslist I will take some picks I was going to give Mike Brace a call as well, he's a top bloke - runs Classic Swede on Anglesea and has helped me out with tricky bits before

To me the bottom line is divert some money from military expenditure and into Prisons and Education. Education to stop as many folk turning into scum and prison so we can stop using liberal policies and actually lock people up. In sparsely furnished cells, not holiday camps.

You have my sympathies.

Sorry to hear that scoots, you have my sympathy. It happend to me on my old Sterling, some little wank stain tried to break into it bending the door back. First I knew someone was trying to nick it was when the alarm went off, fuck knows the car would be long gone had it not had an alarm. Soon as the alarm went off I went outside to have a butchers, I thought the alarm went off randomly but I saw the damage and a neighbour came down and told me she saw some little shit ran off down the road when the alarm went off. I phoned the up the local constabulary and they had a patrol car doing the rounds within 10 mins.

Next day an officer came to see me and have a chat, he suggested a visual deterrent such as a steering lock, I also had the forensic lot phone up wanting dabs, but by then I had bent the door back so any dabs would have been useless.

steering locks are a very good idea - I have one on the Sherpa and am convinced that if the missus had locked the 205gti with the one that was in the bloody car then we would still have the car now!

also a red led on the dash is a good idea - just makes it look as if it might be secure..

at the end of the day whilst annoying the damage on closer reflection isn't too bad and I do grin over the fact that the bloody stain on the side of the car shows where the extra thick tank steel, refusing to bend, diverted the screw driver into the wee sctores hand....

Sorry to hear about the vandalism Scooters. Attitude of the copper you spoke to is disappointing - what a tosser.

Mate of mine is stripping a torslanda for banger racing, but he's up in Barrow in Furness and i'm nut sure id be bothered with sending stuff out. Typically the wife was visiting her fiends in the area today but is now on the way home!

I do hope you find him, scooters; natural justice is the ONLY way forward with these things. Plenty of 240s about, so it might not be as hard as you think to get replacement parts. I wish you luck with that. Post up a pic or two, then we all know what we're looking for.

Bad luck Scooters, hope it can be 'sorted' some how.

Go out and spend the thousands on what you have saved on your NCB loss claiming on the insurance and buy a steering lock. You can get them for a fiver on ebay, people depend on alarms for their modern cars nowadays. I think they really do act as a deterrent, even better having one of the wheel and one on the gearstick (as I have).
