Ever found anything interesting in your autoshite?

I have been doing some welding on my own bit of autoshite (a lot of welding actually - it is the rover sd1 VDP EFi that Pete used to own - I have been doing it in my garage, a shipyard would have been more appropriate)), I was doing some repairs in the front O/S wheel arch that required opening up a boxed in section.

 

In there, suspended in the cobwebs, was a cigarette butt, no doubt being in there since 1985. I remember Quentin Wilson saying once that he had bought a metro that was brand new and had an empty coke can inside the door.

 

About 10 years ago I bought a granada 2.9i Ghia x - low mileage but two of the doors had rusted through. Two doors were procured from the scrappy, and as I stripped one of them (a layer of sponge secured with VERY strong sealant had to be removed so I could paint them) I noticed something inside the door.

 

It was a calculator, a sharp model, and it still worked. I still have it in my tool box.

 

Anybody found anything in their autoshite? Any russian vehicle owners found mouldy fish sandwiches etc under their carpets?

When I bought my Scenic, I was amazed at what was left in (even started a thread for it at the time). I found an unsigned Barclaycard, a whip for an Indiana Jones toy, a range of audio cassettes (including Prefab Sprout and an audio guide to Knowsley Safari park), a picnic blanket and a catheter (not used).

 

Found loads of roadworks lights in an Imp I bought once and a dead whore in the back of a car i bought off Les Dennis of all people.

Receipts from the 80's are the best, I've found loads of those, including hand written notes saying 'Parking meter not working at 4.40pm, 11/5/1986".

I've found a shopping trolley 'pound coin' for a French supermarket, and in my latest car, a plastic executive account card for car wash machines from the 90's that fell from behind the dashboard.

Nothing interesting apart from a couple of Esso 'Tiger Tokens' in the Rover Sterling. Also found some boxed, unused brake pads in a Vauxhall Astra I had sometime ago.

Oh yeah. Reading glasses, virtually every tax disc from new and a scribbled note: "RUN OUT OF PETROL" on the back of an envolope with a 1987 postmark in the glovebox on my landcrab.

I bought the Starion in 2007. The previous owner had taken everything apart in a quest to find out what was wrong with it, so the rear interior was a mess. When I put it back together again I found a 500ml tub of automotive grease, which I have just used the last of! Excellent!

Found a green - with - mould pound coin and lots of old 1981 newspapers from South Africa discussing apartheid in the Amazon.

 

In the Piazza there was a fair amount of skunk, both in the centre console and in a special hollowed out section of the OSF A pillar. I also found papers and a parking pass for a member of staff at a holiday park in Cornwall dating back to 2002. I reckon that car saw most of the country when it was road legal - the damn thing had 12 owners from 1987 - 2010 and it was originally registered at a Subaru garage in Reading. It's dead now sadly.

Utterly no use when I took the Micra (it has a broken tape player) as I didnt want the monkeys trashing the Zafira.

Found an old fiver (Duke of Wellington type I think)in my Samba when I removed the carpet to change it.

 

Some years ago, a mate bought a stripped-out ex local authority end of terrace house with a lean-to garage at public auction. In the garage was a Triumph 2000 or 2500 PI (can't remember which). In the trumpet was an unopened case of 70cl bottles of vodka, and a gimp mask.
