Sorry to hear about this Torston. I will keep an eagle eye out. Seems a few cars are being stolen now scrap has risen. Makes me even more worried about my own cars.

Bastards. Utter, utter bastards. I thought it was a wind up when I saw the post on Facebook.

Eyes are peeled around my local area and for when I wander round North Wales. Your number's in my phone in the highly unlikely event it turns up near me. Needless to say the crims will get a jack handle in the back of the head should I find them for you.

Best of luck and I feel bloody sorry for you.

Just logged in and read this, hope the car turns up and gets returned Torsten, made me feel quite miserable

How crap is this? Hope it turns up, I suspect joyriders or someone wanting a lift home from the pub rather than scrap metal thieves, its just too much of an eyecatcher to risk dragging over the bridge- it would attract alot of comments.

I know a chap who works at Larne docks, I've asked him to keep an eye out.

Hope this turns out OK.

Only just got on-line though I was in the dungeon when you texted Paul earlier. Totally gutted.

I've posted it (with a link to here) on Popular Classics.

Really sorry to hear this news, it seems nothing is sacred anymore.

Really hope you get it back, will keep an eye for it, for what its worth. Hopefully it is just joyriders and it will be found dumped somewhere.

Terrible news - hope you hear something positive soon.

+1. I am so gutted, I owned this car for over a year before I sold it to Torsten and I loved it. I just hope it hasn't been burnt out somewhere

Some distinguishing features I can think of:

The chassis number is AS5-HCS-80889 and the engine number 9-UH-80889.

A30-35 club and AA badges on the grille.

There is a big dent in the rear N/S behind the back door, also the back door has 1/2" of filler in it.

The front panel was damaged in an accident years ago and is made mostly of filler, especially on the N/S.

Reversing lights

Lucas Ranger and Fogranger spotlights on the front.

Tex wingmirrors with long reach stems.

Ribbed gearbox with recent 1098 clutch and flywheel.

WWF sticker in rear N/S quarterlight, A30-35 club stickers 2008-10 in the back window, 'I love my A35' and 'The Hemsby Rock 'n' Roll weekender.

New static seatbelts fitted in the front.

Temperature gauge loose on the dashboard.

About 68,000 miles on the clock.

Big, padded sunvisors - not standard.

Original carpets in the back, nothing in the front.

Sticker in the bottom corner of the windscreen - 'Brighton College of Education'.

Hi Angry dicky i recognised the car from when you joined the Young guns classics forum, ive posted about it on there and will keep an eye out for it.

What a bummer! I suppose it's possible it could turn up over here, so I'll stay alert for it, but the chances are pretty slim. I hope it comes back to you safe and sound.

Posted

It's now on the A30-35 club site and Oldclassiccar. One of the guys in the A30-35 club lives in Balham, he's got his eyes peeled.

Posted

I've just spotted it on the A40 forum too, the more people we have looking for it the better!

I know this is a serious issue, and we do genuinely want to get the car back safe, but is anyone else reminded of Carry On Cabby?

This is a right shitter. Some people need shooting.

Hope it turns up in decent enough condition. With the current scrap prices it makes sense to get your cars insured for when they are off the road. I would be devastated if some goon nicked off with my Imp, especially if they were just going to weigh it in, after all the work i have done on it.

I can never figure out how these people get away with it. When you see these Escorts that have been robbed which are worth ££££, it must be pretty easy to spot them driving off with the amoutn of CCTV around these days. Even a trailer with a covered car on the back is pretty easy to spot as there are not that many that you see. It makes you think the police maybe just cant be arsed with a missing car.

It makes me bloody sick to read about thefts like this. I hope for a happy outcome.

Thanks Riley. Ian (Dollywobbler), any chance you could get this in the classic press? Any coverage we can get would be great.

Fuk. I'll check the Dutch sales sites, quietly hoping it won't turn up here.

Posted

It would also be good to get on the big forums like VZI and Passion Ford, if anyone's registered on there?

Anything at all, anyone on the Morris Minor forum? The A35 club have been fantastic though!

Can do, but I'll need a crime reference number. These stories never get printed without one.
