Awesome! They've obviously decided just one wouldn't be enough. Canterbury's not noted for car production, is it tho'? There must be more...

Look up "Leyland Road, Tamworth" - the side roads are even in alphabetical order... 8)

I used to do the street naming and numbering in my borough. It's surprising what you can get past the big developers, so long as they think it's non-offensive and won't hurt house sales. The only stipulation ever laid down to me was that one developer didn't want a number 13 anywhere in their estate (it once put off a superstitious customer). I think most of them couldn't care less what road names you come up with for them, so long as they get an address, pronto. This allows them to get a postcode off Royal Mail, which they need to get the utility companies to provide a connection to each property. Once I figured this, I realised what a wonderful opportunity this was.

My favourite estate that I named and numbered was one on the site of an old Nestle chocolate factory, where I managed to slip in Rowntree Gardens and Mackintosh Way. Sadly, Quality Street never came to pass, as someone else bought that particular parcel of land and wanted their development named after a relative. Bastards.

I did prepare a scheme using the names of British F1 champions - Hill Avenue, Hawthorn Gardens, Surtees Drive, Clark Avenue, Stewart Road, Hunt Mews, and Mansell Way (I'd now add Hamilton Court as well, but this was just before Lewis became that year's champion). Sadly the recession did for that, as the developer went bust. I'll try and persuade the people now doing the naming and numbering to resurrect it though, if and when someone else buys the site and gets started on it.

There are also some intersting house names out there too (they landed on my desk to be registered too) with a motoring connection. There are several Silverstones and Brooklands around my patch. Some are just bonkers though - one guy wrote in and requested that I changed the name of his bungalow to Hamsters End. Why, I know not - but it's now the official name of his property.

There must have been a shiteist doing the naming and numbering before me though, as there are many clues scattered through the borough, such as Chrysler Drive, Hunters Rise, Santana Villa, Laurel Grove, Montreal Place (OK, bit exotic, that one), Cherry Garth, Lonsdale Road, Crown Street, Cambridge Street, Oxford Street, Holden Place, Princess Street, Griffin Close, etc., etc.

I could go on, but you're probably bored shitless already.

No that's a good story, I've always wondered how these things come about and the fun you could have with them. I wonder if Talbot Avenue suffers from frequent power cuts and water leaks?

Alfasud Avenue leading to Lancia Lane - Power cuts galore, and the houses disappear after a good shower of rain.

In the Norfolk market Town of Wymondam (pronounced 'Windham'), not far away from the Lotus factory, there is an Esprit Close, Elan Close and an Elise Close. 8)

Your right about Jaywick, But not only does it have car related names, it's also chock full of old shite cars! (as seen in the google street view thread last year)

Hampton Pier Avenue sounds like an excellent American Chrysler mid-sized mass market saloon from about 1993.

I would suggest it might have a vinyl roof, a porthole in the c-pillar, buttoned interior trim in a colour something like 'Sable Plush' with cordurouy door panels, whitewall tyres, and a 7.7l V8 rated at 128bhp.

Theres a 'Talbot Road' in Wrexham.

I park up near there sometimes as its close to the town centre and I always think of an Alpine, Horizon or something when I see the sign.

thats the way my shite mind works - hence being on this site. :)
