Daniel H? I'm 'Richard H' :D

Love the Cambridges, and the Victor, and the P4...NICE :D

'Twould appear that your eye, Dan, is automatically drawn to a flash of chrome bumper, just as mine is! Well done sir!

Blimey, that is some top notch work there, well done! That Astra estate is utterly superb, as is the Civic.

Also, welcome aboard.

Good stuff! I really like the Saab and the Sunny :)

Decided to go out for a drive in the Micra this morning so thought might as well get some snaps of shite I've known about in the Hemel Hempstead area :D

First of all is this magnificent Hunter which seems to be permanently parked in this position on a new build housing estate. No idea if it's some rat look pisstake or the owner can't be arsed with any cosmetic work, although the classic car run plates on the front bumper means it's probably in the hands of an enthusiast. :)

Photo0175.jpg

Photo0176.jpg

Photo0177.jpg

Teal blue Mini garden ornament complete with 'limited edition' sticker on the boot. Obviously not been used for many years although the owner probably still has dreams of turning it into a cooper replica.

Photo0179.jpg

Photo0180.jpg

-Insert VW scene joke here-

Photo0181.jpg

Now this was kind of an unexpected spot, I originally saw this Zodiac on the road back in 2009 during a driving lesson and saw it turn down a small cul-de-sac. Well out of curiosity I went down said close today and there she was in all her faded glory, looks like the owner's put their spare hubcaps to good use too :D

Photo0182.jpg

Photo0184.jpg

Photo0183.jpg

A landmark in the village of Abbots Langley, 'Audi city'. There's at least 10 more 100 coupes in various states of disrepair in the owners front garden...

Photo0185.jpg

Photo0186.jpg

Photo0187.jpg

Photo0188.jpg

Late 13/60 estate being used as a DIY'ers hack

Photo0190.jpg

Photo0189.jpg

Plate raped Wolseley 1500 has been in this front garden in Kings Langley for at least 10 years :(

Photo0191.jpg

Private-plated Passat 'GL-5' wagon also full of DIY garb, fortunately not in the hands of a angle grinder wielding, retro sticker obsessed 17 year old art and design student for the time being :)

Photo0192.jpg

Photo0193.jpg

A finally an early Cherry from the Datsun-Nissan era, sadly a permanent fixture in this front garden for a good few years now

I'd be driving that Herald every day, lovely! Zody nice to see too, well done again. That blue Hunter really shows the folly of low-profile tyres, doesn't it? I have no argument with the pepperpots, put what wheels you like on a car, but at least make sure the tyres don't look stupid!

Posted

My god, but this must be one of the best first pages on a spotting thread I have ever seen?! Great work, you really are doing well.

Posted

Great spots Dan, love the Zodiac, saw one on The Sweeney the other day. I'd love to have a drive in one, one day.

Posted

Blimey, I haven't seen a Hunter of that standard since 1996. Great work! 8)

That is just so 'Old Money'. Wouldn't look out of place at the Old Manor after a morning shooting peasants.

They are utterly dreadful, a massive heavy wallowing barge with very 'approximate' steering. Still as cool as fuck though. I'd have an early Zephyr 4 in pale 'sixties bathroom suite' green with column shift.

GR8 work Dan!.

IMGP2215.jpg

I'm sure this is the one i saw in Walton On The Naze last year and also in Clacton, I saw the old boy driving it with his dog but by the time i got my camera out it had driven past, i was well gutted!

Photo0136.jpg

That number plate must be worth a bomb!

You must spend a lot of time in my part of the woods looking at some of your spots, Impressive work!

I love Minis of this era, the early MK3. I remember seeing lots like this in the early 80's in only slightly better condition on the road!

Excellent spots! The Audi sanctuary is very impressive. No doubt some skinny-jean wearing student would love to spend some of mum and dad's money Stihl-sawing the suspension. Glad you appreciate the Passat in its current glory :)

Love the number plate on that Zodiac. Ford management car at Boreham maybe? The H plate rally Escorts were FEV prefixed.

Yeah was down Clacton a few times in 2010, the Civic seems to live in the Brooklands area in Jaywick. :D Shame I didn't get a snap of the faded brown Wolseley 18/85 outside a tiny bungalow nearby, as it's now apparently been scrapped after being written off in a minor accident.

I bought one just like it in 1991, CUO488L iirc. Teal blue 850 with the pudding stirrer gearlever. Looked as rough as that one but it drove so nicely.

Posted

Teal Blue is a super colour. I didnt know the 850's still had the long gear lever as late as that :D

Posted

I'll bet the BL Mini's about had it if it's been parked like that for a lengthy period.

Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat??!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Photo0188.jpg

Shit a brick that's just ridiculous. This Audi collector is not only living the dream, he invented dreaming.

And only the other side of St Albans so not far from work. I'll drive my one down there one day for a visit I think. Thanks for posting! Amazing spottage squire, esp the SM's, Chevettes, Hunter and Civic.

A very very warm welcome!
