Their original slogan was “You’re a bender, we’re the mender”, but business was a bit slow.

Plenty of clues there.  081-670 was Gipsy Hill and West Norwood.  It is under the railway arches and that looks like a station platform fence at top right.  There is even a street name plate at top left which might be readable.....

It's Double Dee Autos, West Norwood.  Still there, but looks a bit different.

I'd hoped there was irony in his post..

just a little bit, although knowing a mini specialist is still going gives me some hope, although there are individuals claiming to be specialists in some french cars in thornaby that cant diagnose a loose wire.

I remember this place. It's just round the corner from Norwood bus garage. We were keeping our bus there around 1989 and I remember them having a Mini with Merc W115 headlights in their little yard.

I purchased Money by The Flying Lizards from the record shop by the SD1

As I remember it the record shop was on this side of the road and was run by one of my neighbours. I used to go in there often and can remember asking him if he had anything by Led Zepellin whom I had just seen at Bromley Tech. He brought out LZ1 and put it on the turntable for me but I didn't buy it because I thought they were better live. I eventually found an unplayed copy in a record shop in Barnstaple as for years I regretted not making the purchase. The toyshop was also a fond favourite.

Yes! I went in, when older. What was it called? Scared to ask then. You don't see Turf Accountants these days.

Yes, just like that. In my mind it was black but it was 35 years ago.
