Has anyone ever actually seen a Dacia Denem in real life?

Thanks for the pix, Andrew, excellent !

I can't believe almost 60 posts up on this, I thought I was the only one who liked them !!

My son took two good 3/4 angle pics, at my request, of a cracking red Denem Estate in Hluboka, CZ (with 1310 badge on tailgate) on his i-phone,

- just waiting for him to send them, and I'll post em up.

I like the advertising: "very acceptable".

Did they do a follow up campaign?

Dacia Denem, not really that shit actually.

I think they are a fine looking car, esp suiting the quad lamps.

There were a few in Glasgow (I'm sure if you sold the most appalling car in the world, at the right price; some old tightwads in bunnets and bad cardigans would buy them...in Glasgow), but I can't remember for the life in me, who the dealer was. I've a feeling they were sold somewhere out Hamilton way, maybe Motherwell. It might also have been related to the FSO dealer up Switchback Rd, just past Anniesland Sawmill.

Sounds about right. A Dacia is the automotive equivalent of Armadale - i.e depression followed by suicide.

Yeah. Sadly the only way to see larger images is to join a Canadian peugeot forum, which I can't be arsed with.

I'd imagine they sold even less in Canada than they did here.

nice one, Claypole. plenty of those trundling around CZ.

I now have the two pics my son took in Bohemia (southern CZ) of the Dacia 1310 Break, but he sent them from an i-phone attatched to an email, and I can't seem to copy them, to upload to photobouquet, to post here...

anyone got any suggestions please ??? thanks!

I can't believe i'm admitting to this, but in the very early 90's i OWNED a Denem Estate, a Duster Van and a Shifter, i'm sure i even have some photos somewhere.

I would love to get hold of another Denem Estate, i was even bidding on the silver A plate 1 on Ebay a couple of years ago, but was outbid at the last moment. :(

In the mid-1980s in the part of east Kent where I grew up, I used to see a blue saloon fairly often, and there were one or two 'Shifter' pick-up versions knocking around :)

Whilst flicking through an old Glasses Guide dating from 1983 I think I've come to the conclusion that part of the reason the Dacia brand failed so spectacularly over here is that they were a tad overpriced!

A Dacia Denem 1200L list price......£3490

compare this to competitors

Skoda 120L £2509

Lada 1200 Saloon £2549

FSO 1300 £2599

A top of the range Denem GLX at £4295 was getting perilously close to

Nissan Sunny 1.3L £4191

Fiat Strada 60 Comfort £4476

Renault 9C £3995.

OK, we Autoshiters would rather have the Denem , but Mr Joe Public was slightly more conservative and would surely be unwilling to invest this sort of money in an unproven brand.

...or in what was very obviously a 1969 Renault 12...!

The last Dacia I saw was a duster that had been abondoned outside my house in Coventry in 2000. The guy at the end of the road reported it and it got taken away on the back of a low loader, the owner appeared when the duster was being pulled onto the truck but scarpered when the lorry driver told him how much it would cost him to get it back. Was replaced a few days later by an abandoned vectra.

As this post seems to have "re-appeared", then it gives me the excuse to post up these two pics taken a few months ago in southern Bohemia ( for those not in the know, that's a little south of Winchester....)

This is in daily use.

taken on i-fone 4 by my son, so apologies for quality/ size/whatever...

Someone who lived near me, before I moved here, had one, brand new. I think it would ave been around 1985-9.

Been wracking my apology for a brain trying to remember who and can't.

I don't think I have seen a live one since then.

Hi guys, I have seen your posts and I want to upload two or three pictures with Dacia Denem, but I don't know how to do that. I also want to present you Dacia Coupe. It's pretty much like a sedan but it's not that tall - I have the numbers too - it has two longer doors, the ceiling is lowered in the back. Also the car has some mechanic differences too. If someone is interested I can present the car, with his history and prototips. Thank You.

So there is...

It's a Dacia 1310 because of the big plastic grill and exterior mirrors. Also the rims are so called "canada" in Romania, Renault didn't sell they're cars with those rims.

Hello! The best way to upload photos it to use a hosting service like Flickr, picsaweb, imagehost - upload the photos onto that website, and below each photo should be a link with something like:

"this is the host address"[/img ]

so if you copy this and paste it into your post, the photo should appear should appear.
