A few morsels for your delight and delectation...

Carrying on from where I left off; shitty, shitty pic...but when did you last see one of these?

IMAG0430.jpg

Sacre bleu! C'est un Peugeot Electrique!

IMAG0481.jpg

Pov-spec 605? C'est pas possible, mon brave! Mais oui; regarde les wheeltrims plastique!

IMAG0432.jpg

Don't see many of these in Fife...

IMAG0472.jpg

'Nuff Frenching I'd reckon. Oriental oddities? Certainly...

Daewoo Espero, anyone?

IMAG0456.jpg

Mazda 626 GT - bet it doesn't even know it's parked less than 50' from the RX3 I posted a while back!

IMAG0421.jpg

I know where there's another V6 Camry, but this one'll do for now.

IMAG0420.jpg

And from the Land Of The Rising Sun, to the Land Of Rising Early To Get A Towel Down...

Ugly, tough and hard to argue with, let alone understand. Just shout 'You Should Have Got A Landy, Mate' really loudly in English.

IMAG0482.jpg

IMAG0474.jpg

Altho', again, I know where there's another GE still earning a living. It'll be some mission to snap it...

Better still, just park the camper on the beach.

IMAG0450.jpg

Or let the roof down, and brave the seagulls nicking your chips.

IMAG0476.jpg

I quite like this pic: Volvo Torslandas old and new.

IMAG0435.jpg

And again, Erik the Red sneaks into shot;

IMAG0466.jpg

Half finished Anglia - the Corrado's not much better. Nice dashboard shot...

IMAG0447.jpg

He's in this one too, just a long way back. Sneaky bugger.

IMAG0458.jpg

I s'pose that'll do for now: there's some other stuff on memory cards that'll just have to wait 'til next time.

These things are relentlessly awful to drive (both of them). Well done for snapping them though!

Damn,

I spotted that 626 a few weeks back at Partco, It gave me the OMG WANT. You've brought back those old feelings....

Posted

That big 4x4 Benz thing...I'm scared to think what would happen if you really slammed on the brakes

Posted

The dog-rough modded Anglebox and the tatty SD1 are both definitely of another age. You just don't see stuff like that anymore, more's the pity.

The 626 Coupe is a lovely bit of kit, despite the colour. Such a classy motor looks quite incongruous on those cheap trims.

I'd swear those are alloys? You got me looking for the hub cap now..

Hey I think you're right! They look flippin' shite man, Mazda should be ashamed of themselves. No wonder only about 7 people bought a 626 coupe...

Posted

Personally, I think the Mazda would look incomplete without the alloys. It's just a pity that the 'Mazda' badge from the centre of the cap has gone missing, 'cos they do look deceptively like cheap wheeltrims without! I'd love to potter about in it tho'; the GT's must be rare, right enough. Probly more because there aren't many cars less befitting the 'GT' tag than those 626's. That and some bits being mind-meltingly expensive to fix back in the day, probly got a fair few scrapped. E.G., Queensborough Mazda wanted near enough £600 for a carb for my dad's '87 GLX in '92: a 50p diaphragm, blagged for free from Scotbike fixed it...

I did wonder about the stability of the Merc trialler myself. I'm pretty sure all the safety mods and jacking points on it, are more a case of 'when' than 'if' it falls over. Besides, the badge on it says '230GE', but it sounds like a 5-cyl oil burner. The 230GE was the base model petrol one, wasn't it? The oil burners were 'GD' models iirc.

And I must say, of all the stuff I've snapped (because I like it, or it makes my Shitey Senses tingle), the Anglia's the one I really actually want to save. Poor thing...I'm ok with the matt black'n'flames, and the slot mags (it's a look isn't it? I know I'd need flares and an 8-track to do it justice, but I can carry it), and the almost inevitable 1600 X-Flow up front. But it needs to be out there, smoking the car parks and industrial estates of Fife!

I wondered if the SD1 was Cort's one, but I don't think it is. His is undergoing surgery at the mo', isn't it?

Right. Time for some more scabby old turkeys, and cheap'n'nasty crackers.

On the first day of Christmas, my true love gave to me...

IMAG0552.jpg

IMAG0548.jpg

...a Toyota Paseo. "Cheers hen, just...erm...what I always wanted"

Away in a manger, no crib for a bed...

IMAG0560.jpg

IMAG0561.jpg

...the little lord JeSHUT THE FUCK UP! If the Son of God had been born in the back of a Citroen XM 'Onyx', the wise men would've brought LHM, some spheres, and a multimeter. Much better gifts, I think, and maybe a religion I could get on with, would've evolved.

Hark the herald angels sing...

IMAG0542.jpg

...'hark', my hairy arse. Acclaim, more like. Rubbish pic, but I was trying to hold up the traffic and talk to my maw-in-law at the time.

Last Christmas, I gave you my heart, but the very next day...

IMAG0543.jpg

...I realised it was a Model T's worth of Tennents pisswater talking, and regretted the quick shag behind the bus shelter. But I confessed to God on the great white telephone for a good hour, so it's ok. And the doctor's said he can sort the crabs out.

God rest ye, merry gentlemen, let nothing you dismay...

IMAG0495.jpg

...WHOA! I'll stop you there Frank. Perfectly normal Subaru tiny-van from behind;

IMAG0496.jpg

What the fuck is going on with the front??? Too right I'm dismayed.

Hither page, and stand by me, if thou knowst it telling...

IMAG0502.jpg

...to yonder Renault fix a note, 'please phone me if you're selling'...

Joy to the world! A Morgan's come...

IMAG0494.jpg

...to Tesco's in Dundee.

Well, enough stupidity for now. The 'Shiters Crimbo sing-song endeth here. All the best for Christmas + the New Year.

Posted

Is that Tennents van really a Model T, or an Albany Twenties from the 1970s with a Triumph engine and Morris Minor front suspension? Like this one in Cupar.

Did you spot the Subaru outside Ninewells Hospital? I see it there most times I go. I'm pretty sure I saw it on the same day I saw this one in one of the Ninewells car parks, which means there are two people driving them. As far as I know it's a standard factory model, called a Sambar Classic Dias.

TBH, I looked at the 'T' only insofar as to check it didn't have discs on the front. The ones that used Tranny + LDV/Sherpa bits may have beam axles, but there's no hiding them discs! It would definitely be more Autoshite if a company that big had to resort to using a kit car for promos...

Yes, the Subaru thingy was parked in Ninewells Av. Haven't been into the hospital in many years, so I haven't seen the one you posted. Somehow it looks a bit nicer than the dark blue one. I actually stopped to see if someone had grafted some chromework from a BL-era Riley on to it!

Must go for a good old 'Shite hunting session in Dundee, I've only ever scratched the surface so far...

Posted

I've studied your picture a bit more and I am 99% sure it's an Albany. Maybe it's because anybody could jump in this and drive, while the real thing isn't so straightforward. The scary thing is that the Albany is well on the way to being as old as it originally pretended to be.

Posted

Fisher and Donaldson in Cupar DO have an original and genuine Model T van... I MOT'd it a few years ago- nearly putting it through the back wall 'cos the accelerator's in the middle, which no one mentioned...

Posted

It's an Albany - leastways it's not a Model T - I used to work there.

Posted

Thanks chaps; I reckon it's more interesting that it isn't an actual T. I must read up a bit on Albany, I hadn't heard of them before. In fact, I'd roll in one.

A virtual Fisher + Donaldson cake all round.

MAJER BOLLICKS ALERT. YOU HAZ BIN WORNED

IMAG0699.jpg

Transit County, trying to look inconspicuous. And failing. Spotted it 500yds away. Haha you.

IMAG0695.jpg

Boggo Skoda Pickup. Not lowered, original colour bonnet, no sticker bomb. Fail

IMAG0690.jpg

Colin Chapman reckoned big wings kept the back end of his racers down. Not sure weighing them down was part of the idea. Fail

IMAG0683.jpg

Tata Safari with leather interior? WTF? Abandoned in a remote Yorkshire farmyard on a Sunday morning fail.

IMAG0676.jpg

Fancy plate, not fancy car. It's either fail, or the reek of old money. I was amazed to take this pic (and the one that appeared elsewhere) in the middle of a crowd of pensioners, who seemed completely oblivious! Geriatric comprehension fail.

IMAG0671.jpg

V70 in 'Not The Only Big-ass Old Estate In Homebase Car Park Fail' Shocker. Must try harder. 6-wheel CX methinks.

IMAG0644.jpg

"Mr Paint guy, please respray my car pink, here's 15p"..."No, pinker than that"..."Do you stock PPG Hi-Viz Fail Pink?"

IMAG0649.jpg

Surprising how few of these are left - this little bambino's mega tidy. I'd rock that, I could winch it into the V70's loadbay for shit'n'giggles. My sister had one years ago, but you didn't need to know that. TMI fail.

IMAG0646.jpg

Felly...Magic it is, takes entire wheelchairs up its' rusty rear end nae bother. Leg fail.

IMAG0625-1.jpg

IMAG0626.jpg

I love taking pics of old gits in shit cars, it's like shooting fish in a barrel. Not a fucking clue. Geriatric comprehension fail Pt 2.

IMAG0588.jpg

Shitty pic, I know, but I was genuinely pleased to see this old stager. Leyland 344. Not preserved or mollycoddled - it's gritting the yard at Co-op's RDC at Newhouse. K-plate...'74 K. I was actually pulled up by some random bloke while taking this. The conversation went thusly;

He "What you taking pictures of that old shite for?"

Me "'Cos it's an interesting old rarity"

He "How?"

Me "Built along the road at Bathgate, near enough 40 year old"

He "Built at Bathgate? Did they make tractors there?"

Me "Aye..." :roll

He "Is it worth anything then?"

Me "Wouldn't have thought so, it's just an interesting old thing"

He (slightly crestfallen) "Oh...right"

Me "Cheerio..."

Some people, eh? I dunno...failure to appreciate the industrial heritage of your nation fail.

IMAG0585.jpg

Utterly minging E.European reg'd 626, with bin bag window. Qualz. Swapped grim E.Europe for Broxburn and got their window panned in fail.

IMAG0535.jpg

Clogging up the streets of Auld Reekie with bloody great artics has its' advantages... Bus/truck/twat in Volvo V50 interface fail.

IMAG0674.jpg

And an occasional 'Not Really Shite But Quite Interesting' motah - Project Kahn Rangie. Inconspicuosity (?) fail Pt 2

Or possibly 'plate fail.

IMAG0650.jpg

Oh go then, one more. You twisted my arm. Mostly rust and gaffer tape Primera, owned by a really cheerful Irish bloke, who was made up that I gave him the last of my 50p's worth of airline time. Which promptly expired. Generosity fail.

More fail-o-log when shit passes my lens, folks. It amuses me if nothing else... ePic pHAil

Thread not full of fail fail. You had me at the Transit County.

Did Colin Chapman do a lot of work for Toyota?

Thinking about it, Frank Costin would've been a better reference! Besides, I'm reliably informed* that Toyota's sports car designers have a shrine to CC which they worship regularly. A cravat, and a lock of hair; that's all they have, and it's all they need.

You had me at the Transit County.

It had me too. I've a feeling I know who owns it too - he knows about AS. Maybe I'll flush him out if he's ghosting...

In honour of NU 12 REG day, lets have some rancid old shite. Firstly, I've meant to get around to a full-scale photo-ninja-shite-hunt round Dundee for a while. An hour's work in a relatively small area gleaned these beauties...

IMAG0730.jpg

My other half, Kay, piqued my interest in this low rent industrial area, with this tempting snap...

2012-02-13133323.jpg

...and the garage this is in, has the scarlet FX4 tucked away down a side alley. The City Of Discovery did present me this scabby nugget, too...

IMAG0713.jpg

...zoom in, go on. Tell me how much of the sill is patch. 70%? 80%? Bonus Russell's ERF shite for those of us as likes that kind of thing too. The Tesco at Riverside's a positive shite magnet for some reason.

Elsewhere, there's...

IMAG0744.jpg

IMAG0770.jpg

IMAG0748.jpg

IMAG0726.jpg

...so it must be silly season again. Fire up the telephoto lens, Eugene; we's got us some hot pappin' on.

IMAG0769.jpg

Welcome to Fife. The Health And Safety At Work Act (1974) hasn't filtered thro' yet, co's it's still 1955.

Or...welcome to Fife. It's a drizzly Thursday lunchtime, and you're having a wedding. How classy do you need to be?

IMAG0767.jpg

A)Not Very. B)Not at all. C)What's the problem with a stretch GMC truck? D)No way. It hasn't got a gun rack, or Rangers logo'd numberplates.

Could be worse...could be one of these wangers;

IMAG0893.jpg

EDIT 2/04/12 - Replaced shit Escalade pic, with much better one.

IMAG0566.jpg

I couldn't manage a 12 plate; but I did find this.

IMAG0766.jpg

DFSK Loadhopper. It's a Dong Feng, so it must be insta-shite, right? Despite its' miserable half-ton payload, it'll lug the canvases, sculptures and installations of Kay's that even the Volvo barge baulks at. 8 bags? Hmmm...maybe. I'm guessing it's Suzuki based. Kay reckons it needs a BMW badge, in there above the grille. That would be funny as fuck.

Oh, and cheers for the pic of the Hillman, Doug. Looks like an honest old thing, doesn't it?

Posted

That "Hillman" is of course a Humber Sceptre, but we all knew that, didn't we? Cracking spots though!

Posted

I didn't, when I posted it on FB the day I spotted it! You'd think the knowledge would've sunk in by now, wouldn't you? Bloody typical...yoof of today...I dunno...

Cheers, Ross. I'd assumed that was a 'regular' Stag Ear, stickered up. I'll have a look at the YT vid shortly...

EDIT: That looked like fun...

miserable half-ton payload

Half ton isn't that miserable. I think our old Connect was the beefiest one you could buy and it couldn't manage much more.

Posted

Half-ton is pretty damn good actually. A SWB "series" Land Rover is only rated at half that! Bedford CA? Half-ton. Mk1 Escort van? 6 or 8 cwt. You get the idea. I'm actually quite impressed it's rated so high. These little vans (or more often, pickups) are rather popular here. And yes, I've had the BMW vision too!

Posted

I'm sure that Tommy Kaira Stagea was For Sale when I bought mine 3 years ago, must be a candidate for "the longest ever stint on a forecourt of a current business......!"
