eBay Bellend?

Not another Ebay grief thread!

I the hammer fell on my Pug 307 for £960 17.30 pm Tuesday. I have emailed the buyer my mobile number (which was in the ad anyway) and sent an invoice. It's now been almost two days and I've heard nothing. Is it two early to second chance offer the car or should I give the bloke the benefit of the doubt and wait another day or so?

Did you stipulate in the listing that payment must be received, or at least contact made, within a certain time? That's always advisable and eliminates tricky decisions like this. I'd be inclined to give him another day or two. If he hasn't got in touch by then, send a reminder with instructions to make contact within 24 hours or it will be second-chanced. Then you've covered yourself, and at least you gave him a fair chance.

request the buyers details from ebay

and give them a ring

£960 for a 307 HDi sounds like a very good price, even if it has got a crunching 3rd gear, I'm sure the winner will be in touch, Give it a few more days.

Funny place eBaY. It royally pisses me off when people bid last minute, you send an invoice immediately and don't hear back for a couple of days or more. To be fair though a good percentage do get back to you (in their own time) and usually end up buying.

I mostly stipulate contact must be made within 24 hours, though people don't always abide by it.

Ta guys

I asked for collection and payment within 5 days. I know it only sold the day before yesterday but all other cars Ive sold have had the buyer contact me within hours. If im being fucked about I can't be bothered to go through another listing and another week of waiting. The sooner I can second chance offer the car the better chance Ive got of it selling now.

I'll send a third message and I'll wait until tomorrow midday, thats 2 1/2 days, then it'll be second chanced.

And I'm pretty sure you'll not hear from the second chance offer too... people just think you've shilled the item up. :(

Just request his contact details off eBay. If its a pukka number, ring him up. If its '07961 999999' forget it and go back to square one.

Well I sent another email, and he called! He apologised for the delay in contacting me and explained that he had been busy. The buyer arranged to collect last night, but then contacted me to say he had broken down on the M25.

That does sound a bit iffy.If he doesn't contact you again today send a message to the second highest bidder explaining your fears but don't send an offer just yet.

Well he never called today as promised. I sent a polite message asking if he got home ok and if Sunday was any good. No reply.

Well I have just knocked out a shitload of stuff on the bay, mostly for a quid a pop and with only two exceptions everyone has paid up and the stuff has been postedhgtk foi, vcsy;nfulnbfryukn

One bloke pitched up and had bid on 14 items, I lobbed him a couple of dresses that didnt sell too. Came & paid pound notes.

Its not totally full of twats, though I have had a few myself.

I was the under-bidder on this yesterday http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... K:MEDWX:IT

When I got home lastnight I sent him a message asking if the highest bidder didn't want the car for any reason to let me know.

Got a reply this morning "like I told the other bidder I won't sell for less than 350.If you pay that you can have the car"

Fugging bellend...should've put a reserve on it then.Oh,and maybe have the auction end in the evening not the middle of the afternoon

His comment of "there was a buy-it-now price of £350 but for some reason it disappeared" shows he doesn't understand b-i-n's . Once there's a bid, of course it 'disappears'

My guess is he thought that was his reserve. I can see a neg for him coming.

Oh, and I've got a mobile phone buyer who's disappeared ... just when I thought everything was going well!
