Timewaster Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 Audioline FTW! For some reason, the whole page isn't showing. Is there a different way to post pics on AS mkII?
Guest Tony Hayers Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 Lolz Harry Moss Still see the stickers on the windows of 80's & 90's shite even today (I doubt if the alarms are still working though)
scaryoldcortina Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 Ah yes.. Moss it and loss it.. lol My 80's car hi-fi had "realistic" on it because I used to buy at tandy ;D
Rusty Pelican Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 Check out those prices , that was shit loads then
Station Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 My mate had a Harry Moss in his mum's Micra. I had a few old Argos/Index catalogues from the early 90's - my ma threw them away last year. Didn't she realise I wanted to scan in some award winning shite 20 years later!!
Station Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 There's a load of old Argos catalogues on ebay. They fetch quite a bit as well! DAMN MY MA! http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Argos-Catalogue-N ... 3a5e83ea42
Marshall Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 Haha. This is great. I can almost remember those pages. I am also sad enough to consider buying old Argos catalogues!!
Parky Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 I had that audioline in my Chevette! Not sure what the power output was but I remember blowing one of the front speakers listening to the Pornogratti Album by Extreme while hammering around the Oldchurch Roundabout in Romford. It was Summer 1992. Funny how that old Argos pic brought back such a vivid memory. Such is the power of the Argos laminated book of dreams!
Vin Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 At £99.99 that Audioline must have been DA BOMB. Last year a workmate brought some early 80s Littlewoods catalogues in to work. I liked the full page of shotguns that were available back then.
Conrad D. Conelrad Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 Here's more from 1976. I love the styling of the Pye Popular.
gtd2000 Posted September 18, 2010 Posted September 18, 2010 Audioline was a cheap range in the 1980's but it was a lot of "bang for the buck". The amount of loud noise my Audioline head unit (it was a model up from number 10 on this page with the graphic equaliser - might have been £150?) made was enough to hear the car coming 100's of yards away with the windows closed. I think this is the actual unit here at RR : http://retrorides.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=general&action=display&thread=69824 The cassette function failed not long after the warranty period expired..... Some German twat then broke into the car and stole the defective head unit.... I replaced the (stolen) Audioline in 1988 for a £400 (tax free) Kenwood head unit which had a removable chassis.
retrogeezer Posted September 18, 2010 Posted September 18, 2010 I have a small collection of retro car stereo gear including the Audioline above and the one with the graphic equaliser built in. Alos got some lovely 70's Pioneer kit that is still boxed, I'll try and grab some photos when I get a minute.
Guest Leonard Hatred Posted September 18, 2010 Posted September 18, 2010 I like the Wankel-inspired knobs on the Motorola 124.
Louise2cv Posted September 18, 2010 Posted September 18, 2010 I had the Pye SF2120 on the parcel shelf in one of my 2cv's. It did not like being rained on. To listen to a cassette playing at near the correct speed you had to hold the FF/Eject button in slightly.
garethj Posted September 18, 2010 Posted September 18, 2010 I've got that £99.99 Audioline tape deck in my car now! I bought it last year when I had the Polo, and when toe-rags broke in, they didn't even bother to steal it

I bought it last year when I had the Polo, and when toe-rags broke in, they didn't even bother to steal it They left my Pye unit too! They preferred to half-inch the two-week old and equally rained on Haribo "coke bottle" sweets I'd left next to it. Philistines!
TagoraSX Posted September 18, 2010 Posted September 18, 2010 Here's whats in my 200. I have no idea what it is or if it was any good, looks expensive for 1981 though.(apologies for the crappy pic, not mine!)

meggersdog Posted September 18, 2010 Posted September 18, 2010 Reading this has just made me rumage through the kitchen draw that everyone puts old broken phones and chargers in.Oh joy,I still have the Audioline 307 graphic equaliser that got wired into every stereo of every car I owned in the 80's.Green and red LED's,front to rear fader and 20 Watts of power.

Conrad D. Conelrad Posted September 18, 2010 Posted September 18, 2010 This years catalogue would cost £21 to post.
Timewaster Posted September 18, 2010 Author Posted September 18, 2010 Heres one from 1976Just to give credit - I'm getting these from a post on passionford.com. I'll post more when they post more Edit - Still only 2/3rds of the pic shown - whats going on?!
Richard Posted September 18, 2010 Posted September 18, 2010 Look at that emergency windscreen, you'd be better off with plywood.
