keef Posted September 10, 2010 Posted September 10, 2010 Found out that there were just 53 Sixes licenced at the end of 2009. That means I'm about 30 cars "light" on my database. Can I ask you all to keep an eye out for any you see at shows or just on the road please? I know I missed one (apparently it had over sized wheels and low profile tyres on ) down near Canterbury. Friends saw it, but didn't take any pictures or even take the reg. no. CortinaDave and mikebee 2
keef Posted September 10, 2010 Author Posted September 10, 2010 No problem skipperCheers. Angrydicky Posted September 10, 2010 Posted September 10, 2010 Not many is it? My eyes are pealed The 18/85's do seem much more common.
keef Posted September 10, 2010 Author Posted September 10, 2010 Not many is it?No. This makes it all the more important the ones left are saved. No doubt the Sixes poor fuel consumption (compared to the 1800) didn't help with their survival. Just been through my list again and have found another three that have since been taxed, but that still leaves 27 I don't know about.
messerschmitt owner Posted September 10, 2010 Posted September 10, 2010 the green ex-army one? Lives in Cheltenham. I took a pic recently but I can't find it. I also saw a blue one on WHYST or in the retro-rides abandoned cars thread with a 78 tax disc on it.

I also saw a blue one on WHYST or in the retro-rides abandoned cars thread with a 78 tax disc on it.Cheers. Will have a look on RR as well. Same user name?
keef Posted September 10, 2010 Author Posted September 10, 2010 Thats an 18/85 it's an H reg I think.Yep, H reg would be an 18/85. Sixes were made from 1972 (K) to 1975 (N). Maybe a few late reg. (P).
keef Posted September 10, 2010 Author Posted September 10, 2010 in the retro-rides abandoned cars thread with a 78 tax disc on it.http://retrorides.proboards.com/index.c ... serschmitt Looked at all 49 posts, so unless I have the wrong user name .....

mattblack Posted September 10, 2010 Posted September 10, 2010 The vehicle details for SBF 998M are: Date of Liability 01 05 1999 Date of First Registration 01 01 1974 Year of Manufacture Not Available Cylinder Capacity (cc) 1800CC CO2 Emissions Not Available Fuel Type Petrol Export Marker Not Applicable Vehicle Status Unlicensed Vehicle Colour GREEN Vehicle Type Approval Vehicle Excise Duty Rate for vehicle 6 Months Rate £112.75 12 Months Rate £205.00 Not looking good... Shame as it was very solid and tidy car, but had been fitted with an 1800 engine and auto 'box.
keef Posted September 10, 2010 Author Posted September 10, 2010 I also saw a blue one on WHYSTOnly post on here from you that mentions a Wolseley is :- I used to see one in Gloucester, near the train station - but I did once own a maroon Wolseley 6.No picture though.
keef Posted September 10, 2010 Author Posted September 10, 2010 had been fitted with an 1800 engine and auto 'box. That's unusual. Cheers Matt.
Guest Posted September 10, 2010 Posted September 10, 2010 I also saw a blue one on WHYST or in the retro-rides abandoned cars thread with a 78 tax disc on it.Keef - he's refering to one I put on there and here. Its an 18/85 just removed from a bodyshop where it has sat untouched since 1978. http://autoshite.commlm/forum/viewtopic.php?t=9234&start=0
keef Posted September 10, 2010 Author Posted September 10, 2010 he's refering to one I put on there and here. Thanks for that! Definately an 18/85 as only has 3 rather than the Sixes 4 "whiskers".
Jon Posted September 10, 2010 Posted September 10, 2010 I'm not sure if this one counts keef, since I'm pretty confident this isn't one of the roadworthy ones: Can't remember if the registration was NAL939M or N. Spotted at the end of January this year (and last year) at a village near Redmire in the Yorkshire Dales, whilst out for a walk. The rear end's visible from the main street and the front end from a public footpath. Will scout out the village name if you're interested.
Jon Posted September 10, 2010 Posted September 10, 2010 Just read your post above keef - I suppose that makes my spot an 18/85 and not a Six then - sorry!
RedSparrow Posted September 10, 2010 Posted September 10, 2010 I dunno, looks like there are the 4 chrome strips there, the bottom ones are obscured a bit...
keef Posted September 11, 2010 Author Posted September 11, 2010 Can't remember if the registration was NAL939M or N. Thanks for that. Can't find either on any of the reg.no. look up sites.
keef Posted September 11, 2010 Author Posted September 11, 2010 I suppose that makes my spot an 18/85 and not a Six thenI think it *is* a Six. Black headlamp surrounds and badge on ns of bootlid.
carlo Posted September 11, 2010 Posted September 11, 2010 EAT 440L and HAE 590K are currently for sale on ebay.
keef Posted September 11, 2010 Author Posted September 11, 2010 EAT 440L and HAE 590K are currently for sale on ebay.Yep. Have this listed as they have the potential to be back on the road, but of course they aren't currently taxed or on SORN, so don't appear in the SMMT/DVLA's figures.
keef Posted October 15, 2010 Author Posted October 15, 2010 Been told of one up near Borgue in Dumfries and Galloway, if anyone is passing with their camera.
keef Posted October 15, 2010 Author Posted October 15, 2010 Another 1974 one sold on Ebay end of 2006/beginning of 2007 Devon/Cornwall border.
Lankytim Posted October 15, 2010 Posted October 15, 2010 I think a pair of Wolseley crabs got raced at this years pre'68 at Hednesford. I cant find any pics but heres a youtube vid. I can't watch it though, as my computer can't handle it!
Albert Ross Posted October 15, 2010 Posted October 15, 2010 I went to Haworth a couple of years ago, and these were visible from the road. 154 Hebden Road, Keighley it says............. A6033 http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?ll=53.833 ... h&hl=en-GB Just above centre on the lower side of the road in a grassy yard. These images are from last year I think..... Hope this helps in some small way.
