Very cheap car with MOT wanted urgently!

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, my Carlton failed the MOT last week fairly spectacularly, it needs far too much welding for my budget.

So I'm stuck with my Mini and Metro, neither of which are on the road at the moment.

I need a car - I don't care what it is, but it must be cheap, have an MOT (ideally over 6 months), and not cost loads to get back to Brighton.

Anything considered!

Bloody hell, that's not bad. I've just spent a minute fiddling with this and worked out that for £33.43 of fuel, the XJR, on a run, would manage to go 139.6 miles... if I tickle it.

That's not too bad tbh.

Could you define cheap please?

To be honest though I don't think you'll do better than Warren's 205.

Agreed! In fact I'm amazed it's still on his signature, thought you'd be on the train by now to collect it!

I might do just that. Ideally before my missus removes my knackers with a rusty turkey baster when she finds out I've taken the money out of the bank to by a Bluebird.

Wazza's 205 is a nice little thing, with an expertly fitted cigar lighter.

Put it this way, if you don't buy it, you don't deserve a cheap car.

Thanks for the nice comments guys! Mind you the 205 has been through Knowsley Safari Park recently! :D I think I'll tighten my rear wiper up a bit....

How long's the MOT, and what model is it?

It's a 205, it's in budget, and it's tidy. Just get on the frickin' train and buy it.

Jeezus. It's £200, ffs. You can't be fussy about whether it has AC and parking sensors...

Or you could buy lankytims Volvo? That looks nice. In fact if I wasn't barged up myself I'd have it.

To be fair he's only asking what it is, thats hardly unreasonable.

I don't think 205s were fitted with either.

MOT'd until Feb iirc. It's a 1.1 Trio I think. Da Da Da..... (as the song goes)

Another good contender (and would be my choice) but double the budget. You have to account for getting to the car, you know...

Ok, fair enough. It's just there seems to be two camps when it comes to buying cars. Those who buy, and those who prevaricate about the bush until someone else buys it.

If I see a car that seems cheap (and Wazzas is definately that) I buy. At the moment I already have a Peugeot I don't use, so I don't want another, but if I was after cheap wheels I'd just say "Ok" and find a way to collect it.

I'm tempted to lob it in Ewloe Auctions for a laugh if we have a shiters get together there.

Ewloe??? Woohoo, I used to deliver to your primary school! Happy days (but insanely early starts).

Good luck with that one matey. You might get a rteurn but if you don't (and I'm guessing due to age you won't be able to slap a reserve on it) you'll get dry bummed for auction fees.

It actually defies belief you still have that car, it seems the world and his wife wants small cheap cars these days. I fancy it for my (now Astra-less) lad as it'd be ideal for him, it's just finances as ever.

I really don't want to have to sell this via gumtree and endure the wankers that will call me day and night.

Is the 205 a 5 door? Theres no point in asking really, as the wife HATES white cars.

Yes it has green seatbelts. It only has three doors. It's white. :(

Bugger Ewloe, shove it in H&H's next classic auction. It'd probably get a mention in C&SC...
