Some cracking pics and a great write up.

As for the local pub, surely you you meant Henlow and not Hendon?

Does the yellow Fiat Coupe belong to someone here?

It's Nigel Bickle's.

Wow! What a great looking place, I would have love to have been there. I went to Gaydon a few weeks ago, but that hasnt got a patch on Stondon. Stondon even has a rusty Lada on show! Now thats a REAL museum.

I dont have a car that works and no money, so couldnt have gone anyway :(

It was excellent, I really enjoyed myself. Stondon itself reminded me of the now defunct Murray's Motorcycle Museum on the IOM, where they had bikes mostly in unrestored states including a Honda Cub ridden all over the world and annually to the TT every year. Wonderfull.

The more photos I see, the more gutted I am I couldnt make it....

This

If only I'd have remembered, I had nowt on specifically (although I did go carbooting and scored some lovely stereo shite) and was at a loose end for the majority of the day....

Pompei- yellow Coup is indeed mine - predominantly used as a motorway mileage cruncher.

My wife loves them, so we need 2. (One usually needs work....)

Thats one the baby (16v normally aspirated) and the near identical yellow 20valve turbo (mildly breathed on ) both now around 200,000 milles.

Sorry- just couldn't face a 260 mile m/way round trip in something 'unusual' that day - especially having seen the weather forecast.

Had it been an overnight stay -I would probably have wobbled up in something ridiculous.

Perhaps we can sort a similar meet sometime during the Christmas break- during the lull (Boxing Day to New Year)?

Yes, that sounds like a good idea.

That sounds like a good idea - although partners/spouses may wish to tag along too - perhaps something a little less austere may be in order, with better catering and more seats.

BCA Peterborough??!!!

That was a good read wat, just a couple of complaints - not enough swearing, and you come across as a bit 'Troy Queef' in parts.

Sorry cuntface, I've knocked the swearing on the head because it was getting a bit much.

Better? I'll get my coat.

Thanks for the feedback nonetheless.

Bit late to the party, but yes, Stondon is a fugging amazing place, and it was a great day out in spite of the weather. The Innocenti is not the best long-distance car in the world, and it doesn't really cope very well with side winds (or any other winds really), but it made it there and back happily enough and still seems to have managed more or less 50mpg on the trip, despite needing to be caned pretty hard to keep up with A14 traffic. I'm glad I didn't have to drive all the way home on the same day though - and props to Messrs Wobbler and Dicky, who both drove long distances in even slower cars in fairly disgusting conditions - the Innocenti does at least have a decent demister and two-speed wiper...

I only got a couple of pics and they're a) not very good and B) of stuff that other people have already posted (better) photos of, so I'm not going to bother. It was great to meet everyone and put some faces to names though, and also to finally meet some of your shite in the metal.

Agreed.

I felt quite guilty for having decent heating and ventilation on the long [long] drive back to the Wirral \ Cheshire. I will try and turn up in something a bit less shit, and a lot more shite, next time.

One thing the R4 does have is a cracking heater, so I was toasty warm on the long drive home! I was however also partially deafened.

+1. I was eyeing up the wheels on the van and thinking how good a set of those would look on my R6...

Posted

I reckon the R6 would look ace on them, they are 5 Le Car 2 Turbo wheels, shouldn't be too hard to turn a set up as they were available from Renault til not that long ago.

kin hell i couldnt visit that place they would have to drag me out kicking and screaming id have to try and liberate them scooters and that blue and yellow tuk tuk lol
