Why do they have to use old motors in shows like this?

PS Trigger - here is another Opel Kadett in the UK, about to be dumped in a swimming pool. At least there was in the trailer.

Let's hope they were all scrappage victims and thus condemned anyway.

Is that 101 Ways to Leave a Game Show?

As far as I'm aware it's filmed in some foran country where the H&S rules are a bit more lenient.

Isn't it filmed in Argentina?.One of the cars is a Mk 5 shaped Taunus Coupe :x

It is, as is the televisual highlight that is Total Wipeout. The use of a neutral country allows the producers to assemble one wacky gameshow set and get many TV companies from around the world involved with their own presenters etc.

If you look closely, all the logos around the set are easily removable banners, so that you don't get Los Wipeout Totale or whatever in the background of the UK version.

The BBC no doubt love it, as they don't even have to build a set - they just turn up with a presenter, some contestants, and (possibly) their own crew (though they may use an Argentinian one).

As previously mentioned, Health & Safety concerns are possibly easier to gloss over there too.

Basically, it's cheap telly. Tellyshite, even.

Did anyone see the caravan feature on BBC2 this evening? Chock full of quality shite. Best bit was a Mini Clubman towing a Sprite caravan over the Pyrenees to set a new caravan altitude record!

Also shots of Austin A30s towing caravans. HARDCORE!

I saw that 101 game show crap last week, There's some real classy cars they use for that, inculding a Talbot, I'm sure it's Argentina as well as they are not UK models used.

Total wipeout is deffo in Argentina, I don't even think Richard Hammond goes out there, he seems to present the edited highlights from a studio, presumably in the U.K.

I didn't see this tonight Dolly, but from your description, it has previously been on BBC4, and if I remember rightly, the Clubman and the Sprite was accompanied by the absolutely wonderful 'California Montage' by Young-Holt Unlimited 8) 8) 8)

There was a thread at the time it was on. IIRC Pog said they were all weirdos, especially the woman who cooked the breakfast.....

Also, can confirm Total Arsewipe is filmed in Argentina as possible future step-brother was going to go on it, until he realised that he had to get on a plane....

That caravan thing was great, if it is the one that was on beeb4 last year, as it had some great cine film featuring a mega-rare Ogle 1.5 GT towing a caravan!

I know that two of these were found in bad condition in the late 80s, Chris Gow had one and Duncan Rabigliati had the other, does anyone know if they were ever restored?
