New Car Day (definitely) - Kitten Reliant

In the same way the bloke from Hew and Cry wasn't looking for Linda, Linda found him a new car seems to have found me (although without any trains to Paisley)

as reported in the New News section last week a chance conversation on Facebook took me down to Hampshire to look at a car I most definitely don't need.   My intention was to do a collection caper but as I was driving down to view the car I realised it was a bloody long way on the motorway and I'm still very much struggling to get much enthusiasm for long motorway trips in old cars.   Fate has intervened though . Sell of the car has his own new car being delivered to him today and for an extra £100 the guy has apparently agreed to bring my new purchase to me as part of the same job.  Given it would probably cost £60 in petrol and train tickets it seems like a deal too good to refuse.  In a slight quirk of fate it turns out he's booked the same bloke who delivered my Estelle a few years ago. I hope he doesn't comment on the fact it was in far fewer bits the last time he saw it 3 years ago !

So why is it a possible/maybe.   Well, I still haven't heard from the guy yet. The vendor rang him last week to see how much he would want to add my delivery in to his already booked via shipley deal.  But neither of us have heard from the geezer since.  So I may have a new car coming today, or I may not.  Maybe its fate telling me I should have just taken the brave pill and gone and had a collection adventure myself (inspired by the recent AS Volvo adventure from a similar starting point to a much much much further north end location). Its also a bit frustrating being so reliant on others to make all the arrangements on my behalf especially when communications goes quiet , and I don't want to keep bothering either the seller or the driver so I'm hoping no news is good news.

Anyway, que sera sera. Lets see what happens. at least if it doesn't turn up I will have some extra time without incurring the wrath of my neighbours when another car appears at my house

Still no news so in the mean time have a picture of the same bloke delivering my Estelle 3 years ago  (yes really, God, I must get my finger out and do something with it)

Now try and imagine a sleek coupe (according to the HPI check I did anyway) on the back of it and you'll get an idea of what I am hoping to see this tea time,  even just for the reason that the longer it goes since me last seeing the new car my imagination will picture it as something other than the 5-10 foot-er it most certainly is

Right, so it seems he has made it way up North to pick up the sellers new motor and is en-route to Hampshire to drop that off.    No confirmation yet on my part of the collection but I guess maybe that will come once he's arrived at the sellers house later this afternoon

Nooo its not mine. This is what the seller was having delivered.

This was already purchased before he offered mine for sale so you won't get any clues as to the new car from this one unfortunately!

So, whilst I wait for its imminent arrival a note or two on how I ended up with another car coming

I decided I'd like to be a bit more @HMC when it comes to just going for a car if you want it.  I've not quite got the moving them on as well as he but small steps

Last year I decided to stop being a nervous nerys when it comes to cars and just do it.  I did that with the Xedos and a few weeks later my teenage hero Patrick Watts was hanging out the sunroof at brands hatch

This model car is a car that I have a small connection from my past and is the right spec and colour. I've only seen three in the desired combination come up for sale in the last who knows how long and this one despite being tired looking has had a load spent on it mechanically and is hopefully in decent shape so just went for it. Hopefully it pays off

I can't tell what it is from the photos... Presume 4x101.6 or 4x114.3?

I really can't place the grille or the square-ish headlight...

Ford 105E and the Type 7(?) gearbox fitted to Essex V6. And some Reliant 3-wheelers.

I think this is either a BL Triumph product, a Reliant Kitten or something by a small volume manufacturer which raided various parts bins.

The Smiths gauge is very Triumph Toledo/povo spec Dolomite and Reliant 3-wheeler.
