ATS Euromaster - Big sale

Recommended Posts

ATS Euromaster announced that they'll be winding up their UK operations. A shame, as the one near me are one of the better fast fit tyre places in the area. It has however resulted in quite a big sale, there are some mega cheap ditchfinders along with some premium tyres with big reductions. A few examples in the 205/55 r16 size below.

Basically anything with the red banner is 50% off the tyre, fitting remains full price. Discount calculated at checkout.

I'm sure those Yartu things will be abhorrent, but for £34 fitted they might get a snotter through a test. The Continentals seem the standout buy at £65 a corner fitted, they're over £100 on black circles.

In my experience they'll refund you the disposal fee if you want to keep your tyres and dispose of them yourself in a local watercourse or beauty spot.

Hmmm, I wonder if they're selling off tyre machines too?

My Riviera needs new rear tyres but without MOT I can't just pop over to have them installed. I can't see an option for tyres without fitting either...

No mobile fitting option?

They may just sell you the tyres if you ring up.

Not got any axle stands and a jack? Just take the wheels off and take them to your local ATS?

Brilliant heads up, thanks for posting it up, just pinged this off to everyone I know (all 2 of them...)

Yeah, that would be an option. Looking at the selection of 215/65/R15 tyres they have though (mostly van tyres), I'm probably better off just buying a pair of cheap car tyre from blackcircles as they'll only cost 20 quid more incl. fitting.

Someone should be able to get a good deal out of this one though!

I got a discount on an Aircon regas (£103 for R1237) but didn't know it was because they are closing down, great tip.

Fucking hell, £70 fitted for 2 Yartu ditchfinders on the Zoe, you can't get partworns for that

Yartu are made by the same people who gave us the highly regarded premium tyre brands of Goodride and Westlake.

Clearly a name you can trust.

Another thank you to @davehedgehog31 - full set booked for the SLK - thank ye kindly sir

ATS used to be the best tyre place in Stranraer when I was learning to drive - but that was 1980.

Our local branch closed suddenly last year, maybe this has been on the cards for a while.

Tis times like this im glad ive been stashing money away with my mum because I dont trust myself to not spend it 😂

My fronts are maybe a month away from the wear markers, and are winter tyres which have been slipping on a few junctions here and there (which makes for nice little tests of the clutch!)

I'm sure these are a reputable brand somewhere

for the pair

Thanks for the heads up! Popping to ATS Cowley on Weds. That's where I went for a windscreen once too, that's going to be a pain to have a huge network of insurance windscreen changers gone 😬

And I can say I flipped the coin againt the cost of tyres going up over the summer with the oil shit going on...

I could do with one for the Focus but I’m out of the country for another week or so, they’ll have gone bust by then. 😂

You can book online a week or 2 ahead.

Yep. I'm not going until Wednesday, and it went right into April at Oxford and Heathrow but Bourne End went away mid April on the calendar.

I wonder if their shutting the smaller ones first and when the date picker stops their gone 😢 Oxford and Heathrow are probably quite big in comparison

I suppose if you credit card it and they fall flat in the interim you are covered.

I have Westlake ZuperEco on 607. Recent, 25 or 24 DOT on them. Don’t. Just don’t. Hopeless.

Depends what you are fitting it to. The wife does 2 miles to work and 2 back. They perish before she wears them out. If I was pounding 20,000 a year on the motorway it’d be the Michelins no doubt.

Thanks for the tip-off.

ATS have been my tyre place of choice for some years now, shame to see them go.

Booked new boots all round for the Berlingo next week, £155.

You don’t need to do 20k/year to skid into a ditch/wall/another car or for them to feel plain unsafe. Maybe you don’t need Michelins, but you most definitely don’t want ZuperEco either. Something mid-range like Kumho is not all that more expensive in the grand scheme of things.

I’ve a pair of Westlakes on the front at the moment, they’re alright I suppose. But you can only piss with the cock you’ve got, the Michelins are £300. For the miles/use the wife does they’re ok.

Looking at Euromaster website, you can get a pair of Tigar High Performance for not much more, which whilst not amazing, are not even in the same category as ZuperEco. Tigar is made here, so I drove plenty of cars on them, including my own, speaking from first hand experience.

The ex did 10k+ on a set of Westlakes on the front of her meriva A 1.6 and didn't die (sadly) Then a set of Supersport chasers which went with the car when sold half worn

I've done 20k+ on part worns in the past too and didn't die but the math's doesn't math's on those anymore when new ones are so cheap*

*I could use that excuse when a set of 15" National tyre specials were £38 each fitted on my old xsara. Did 15k and 4 years (fucking pattern here...) on the fronts before they wore the inners out (pre existing issue I didn't know about) with no issue with them either 🤷 When they needed replacing an identical set was £70 fitted 😢

The xsara was faster than the qashqai too so I'll be safer now in my boring dad wagon 👌

I was really impressed with the Westlake all seasons I had on my 5 series, got me up some pretty slippery hills when it snowed earlier this year. I'm a certified tyre snob but that did change my mind a bit
