Hi all,

I found out about this site while looking around flickr a while back and have been browsing ever since. Feels like I can finally say I'm a fan of Rovers without being looked at as if it is a crime, we currently have three Rovers but it all stems back to when we bought this one over 7 years ago for £220, it had light front damage but other than that was in good condition.

It had 29k on the clock at the time, it's a lot more than that now though it has been off the road for over 2 years now. About 5 years ago it had it's head gasket changed, it also had it's gearbox changed around this time and it ended up coming off the road as it now needs a new engine which we have but just haven't got the space at the moment to do the engine change. Oh and not long before it went off the road some twats thought it would be oh so funny to kick the mirrors so they're also broke and need replacing, there are some lovely people in this world.

We also have a Rover 220 which is off the road after accident damage and is in the process of being sold though it maybe kept after being messed around on eBay over it. The final car we have is a Rover 75 Connoisseur and that one is currently in use.

It's the R8 type I like the best, so I'll be glad to get that one on the road again and hopefully source another one as another project car.

Welcome - There's a lot of love for R8 Rovers on here :D

Welcome to the site Rover414, nice car you have there. I like the R8s but more over the early R8s. I'm also a fan of Rovers, but more toward the Rover 800 series than anything else. Mind you, these cars are trying my patiance at the moment.

Like yourself I've got 3 Rovers, 2 X Mk1 Rover Sterlings and 1 x Mk2 Rover Sterling. Sadly, they are all needing attention at the moment.

Welcome Rover414! I'm from Southport, however don't go looking for me, I've moved... I'm now in Cyprus. I think you'll find a lot of Rover buddies on here, you're in the right place.

Thanks for the welcome. The 220 is a diesel and has been involved in an accident and requires a bit of welding around the front, it's a nice car but it's been hit in the same corner now 3 times, twice in our ownership, shame because it otherwise is a nice car. The mess around on eBay and such might just mean it might become a project car, seems to have a bit of bad luck about it though really.

Purple dustbins? Don't get them dahn saarf! Welcome!

Yeah that one is for normal rubbish, then you have the blue one for recycling and also the green one for garden waste I think, the last one never gets collected because its got the wrong stuff in it (garden waste it has inside) I give up...

Haha they probably wouldn't collect it then because it isn't the right colour. Sometimes they don't collect others bins because they're open a bit.

We took my mother-in-law for a drive around Norris Green and Knotty Ash one evening, as she was a Liverpool girl exiled to Formby. She hadn't seen blue bins and asked what they were for. I told her "used gas, after you've done your cooking." For at least half an hour she believed me. My wife and her sister couldn't look at each other! :D Wife still talks about the "gas bins!"

Hello from a fellow Scouse Roverist (although mine aren't Hondas.)

Well all this Honda talk has changed the mood, but I don't mind Hondas really. Think the Rover looks better than the Concerto too!
