I was trying to explain the plot of the BBC 'Clochmerle' series that featured a Pissoir - she didn't think that was a thing - the camera never lies

I went slumming over to the 12th Arrondissement looking for a place I once visited. Couldn't find it but found Les Flics outside their cop shop in Rue de Bercy.
it's not *changed much.

Whole area reminds me of the Isle of Dogs 1980 > present. Changed days.
There's a tabac in the background of Les Flics that the photographer has also captured.

Maybe a Bedford TK and random Frenchman will illustrate it better…

Pissing in public is a French national pastime.

Absolutely loving these! That orange  bizarrini (spelling?) has got to be a top spot, but then i juat as much like seeing a dilapidated 2cv and random american stuff as well, and the Parisian Cafe culture.

These are the sort of period photos where a shot of the eiffel tower hasnt changed a lot, but everything living around it has.

I guess its probably limited appeal (depending editorial direction?) but all this would be amazing in a large format coffee table book (edited and with captions by @andrew e ) hows your french? 😂

A bit of detective work here… First off I think its a Salmson S4-E but someone better versed will be more accurate.

However I have the location - turns out its always been a bar or restaurant or a club, though its very elegant and sanitised now!

I’m absolutely loving this, it’s the next best thing to 1970 Streetview, there’s 30,000 photos to trawl through!!

Nice to see the odd bit of British tin in some of the images. This one cropped from https://bibliotheques-specialisees.paris.fr/ark:/73873/FRCGMNOV-751045102-LAA/A1455475/v0016.simple.selectedTab=record.hidesidebar

and this (not British) on what looks like Belgian plates?

Seriously, check out the strides on this cool guy:

Those started off as velvet maroon loon pants. The black 'detailing' is in fact Castrol GTX liberally and automatically applied by the Triumph.

It's always interesting to see British chod abroad, while I know Minis were popular in France & I guess ADO16s would also have some appeal, cars like Anglias & other Fords are a little harder to understand.   At least the Anglia had some individual looks hiding the conventional mechanical parts, but paying a 25% premium for something that didn't have much to offer over French produced cars in interesting, especially as non-dealer mechanics wouldn't have liked working on them with their non-metric fittings, not to mention parts supplies!
