Edit. Turns out it’s on eBay at the moment!  Will at Cambridge 2cv is trying to get in touch with the daughter to get more info.

The ebay seller posted a walk-around video on the 4th, ebay ad states that they have the V5 and keys.

Darren seems to shift a lot of cars for being registered aas a private seller.

Could be legit at this stage. But it doesn’t sound like the owner was capable of giving consent. Nor is there any money in the house for a sale*.

His home address was also easily found, pm if you'd like it.

Thanks, I’ll let will know .

Apparently the garage door was forced and lock broken.

Was just about to post id seen that up for sale. The rear wing ripple gave it away.

Shouldn't jump to conclusions though this sounds a bit shiesty!

Tayne very kindly did some sleuthing and I've passed his findings to Will at Cambridge2CV to tell the daughter.  I think she needs a good talk with Darren doing the ebay selling to find our exactly what's gone down. Hopefully more info later on.

PS, its obviously not the money, it's a sentimental family car.

This is a very strange situation, but very intriguing, please keep us all updated of any news if possible

Hopefully the owners daughter will speak with the person trying to sell it and sort it out.

It could all be a misunderstanding but I find it strange that the lock on the garage was reportedly forced open.

I sure hope that the owner wasn't taken advantage of. How many other sellers of cars who 'bought it from an old man/lady' have not given a fair price? 🤔  Even if the current owner got confused, somehow thinking the car was to be sold, this would have surely been obvious to our man Reilly?

It would also reflect very badly on the sellers business* and I hope some scathing reviews are left if a spurious transaction has taken place.

Here's hoping a simple explanation can be found.

I don't know what Tayne has found but he is a director of Reilly Trade + Classic Limited (accounts overdue)  and formerly of Lisburn Rd Motors Limited (no longer trading). Correspondence address is a random flat in the area which will unlikely to amount to anything search-wise.

The premises are next to a commercial waste transfer facility in Northampton but I'm sure Tayne has more on that which hes passed to the owners daughter.

So nothing out of the ordinary, yet.

Those companies look fine, I'm sure it's all completely above board.

Totally unrelated, was the chaps driveway also redone (badly) at the same time?

Pretty much this, but I didn’t click through to find Lisburn Road Motors.

I did get a picture of him and find the dodgy number plate on the recovery truck though.

V5 isn't proof of ownership as the dvla like to tell us

What we need to see is his home. If it's in an ordinary housing scheme but has ostentatious boundary paraphernalia, such as gold-tipped 6ft metal railings, ornate brickwork and 'CCTV' signs, then we know he's a wrong 'un.

Don't tell me the truck is a black Renault?

(Was that one ever traced in the end?

This dealers not far from me so I see alot for sale by them on ebay.

Given all the open information about him market places and social media, I just can't see this was stolen by the seller. No ones that silly are they?

I get a feeling there is a middle person here. Someone who's seen the car, knows the gentleman's health situation and flogged it for a quick bit of dosh.

White Vauxhall Movano wearing the plate from an NV200.

I'd go with it being a nissan NV400.

I think I might have gotten a little too caught up in the conspiracy and misread both the plate check and the badge on the truck.

Unfortunately if that is true then there is very little that can be done about it (other than a cold dish of karma) . Still doesn't explain why the garage door was forced, unless the old gentleman couldn't remember where the keys were and the buyer helpfully* solved that for him.

So it was obviously not stolen from the garage as such then.

No chance the daughter has tried to pull a fast one and cover her tracks?

It was for sale on Marketplace last week

The plot thickens. That's clearly the long-term owner's garage. The Muppetplace seller clearly isn't worried about showing him removing it with the work van, either. All very odd.

I wonder what the current seller has said?

Maybe show the marketplace pics to the relatives as well,  they may recognize the young lad snooping about in the background. Edit: the info on that Transit is even beter!

I'm thinking they could be locals who knew the car was there, and have helpfully* offered the owner to get rid of it for him.

The marketplace seller's other items definitely suggest a lot of knocking on doors and seeing what's about - and the lad in the garage, flat tyres, bent bumper near the rope suggest a lot of hauling stuff whether it wants to be hauled or not.

Maybe the keys and logbook were in the car.

Actually, there's plenty that can be done - selling a stolen vehicle, even if you paid for it in good faith, in England is illegal and my first step would be going along with the owner's family after talking to the police and removing it from the eBay seller.

Theres zero info online about 'A8 Property Solutions', and I knew what Id find next.

Ive done some snooping on the sellers FB page and focused on those with the same surname. There are a lot of pictures of them in mobile homes/of caravans, and one has a very fancy car in a large walled yard.

I'll not say any more, you can have a look yourselves if you want.

I’ve passed this new information along.  I’d imagine it’s going to go along the lines that white van knocked on the door asking if there was anything his wanted clearing, old boy says there’s a car in the garage etc…

At least they didn’t tarmac the drive…
