Richard_FM Posted January 18 Posted January 18 I picked up an early Daewoo brochure a few years ago: Marshall2810, Dick Cheeseburger, Dyslexic Viking and 2 others 5
2flags Posted January 18 Posted January 18 I bought my son one of these when he finished uni. Brilliant little car, 16v 1400 engine, air-con, alloy wheels, electric windows all round, central locking, all on a 1996 car. Paid £500 for it. Ran it until the head gasket failed. Marshall2810, AnnoyingPentium, Coprolalia and 1 other 4

That will have likely been a GLXi. My one is a GLi and as such, I get air conditioning and that's about it really. Still a surprising feature for a budget car from 1996. Richard_FM and Marshall2810 2
2flags Posted January 18 Posted January 18 Yes, I was amazed at all the features. I was running a new Ford Focus at the time, and this little cheapy had nearly all the toys the Ford did! I do remember that not all cars of this era had power steering! My son was well impressed! Richard_FM and AnnoyingPentium 2

Just a wee jaunt from where it's stored down to Irvine and back again. 44 miles round trip. That was my first proper drive of it also, and I've had some thoughts on it. Here's the problems, thus far: PWR Light on: indicates a gearbox fault - looking like the selector switch is goosed. It shuffles through the gears fine but sometimes it's clunky as fook. Wobbly at speed: wheel balancing, probably. Those Corsa alloys are a bit rough anyway. Original steels going back on soon if I can get some part-worns for it. And you know, the good: Fuck me, it shifts if you nail it. Really rev happy in the same way the Vectra is. It's pretty cool, in a shite sort of way. It somehow goes round corners. Winning. Hoping to have it out again on Friday. Was in Tesco, and saw one of those wee waving chinese cat thingies, so money was parted with, for a cat, and blu-tack... Listened to some giffer tunes (Manhattan Transfer, do they count as giffer?), and plodding along at slightly less than the speed limit has been pretty fun. You're winning at life! I'm jealous of the car, the tapes but most of all - THE CAT!!! Where does one source one of those? AnnoyingPentium 1

Probably to do with the Chinese New Year, mind you. Either way, I'm going back to get a couple more... grogee and BorniteIdentity 1 1
High Jetter Posted January 18 Posted January 18 At one time they offered to replace your 2yo with a new one, for free. Car, that is. AnnoyingPentium 1
