Cheap Bastard Challenge

Sensible comments without a doubt.Β
The Astra and SX are very, very clear contenders, the newer red Mini also but realistically more doors and a bit more load lugging space is a huge bonus sadly.

Just hindered by distance and spine shite.

That Avensis looks smart outside, could be entertaining on the inside but is outside of my price point but fits the local brief almost perfectly.

It's within haggling distance if you wave the readies at them shirley? He who dares, drives home a biohazard Toyota.

The cold cranking issue with that Avensis would put me off.

A mate had one and it was 10mins of trying before the thing would start on a cold morning, despite new glow plugs.

Was a great car otherwise.

I bought a dirt cheap mk3 golf from eBay a number of years ago, had been used as a mobile kennel/chew toy for 3 fucking massive dogs. The car was about 90 quid but I had to strip the interior out completely including the headlining. The rest was scrubbed daily for about a week and was just about ok. Can’t/wont repeat that experience again, ever πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

Tigra for 400, the saving on your budget will probably get some wheels and tyres from a scrapper.

Tigra, hit a pothole….. what? At Mach 3, poor little car. Ex sis in law had one, I could barely drive it as the pedals were so utterly close together. Nice little things though.

I had the wagon version of one of these new as a company car back in the day. Β Really liked it although load capacity was small compared to the Volvo 940s I had afterwards

Great thread. Reminds me of, I thinkΒ @Sloth in a bowl's thread cheapest of the cheap was it? Some good finds here.

Even if nothing comes of the search immediately, it does highlight the fact that there are some cheap and useful cars out there still 😊

Just the location is not in my favour

I'm in the London/Kent area and would happily drive a purchase up to you, I could do with another adventure as per the Xantia last year!

Alas the Avensis has been provisionally claimed by another shitter.

The interested shitter has just contacted me and said they don't want to tread on anyone's toes so if Ken does want it then he can have it.

Ken message me if you're interested and I'll tell you more about it.

Nothing changes then... You've just described the one-owner Toyota Cressida Estate I had in 1986 (DCK 901S).Β  I swept it but didn't strip it out....
