Found out mate has had a tracker attached to his mint classic van yesterday outside his house,apple & plod totally disinterested.

So tomorrow is to be spent scouring/dismantling to find it/them & fit to a bus,panda car , etc.

I hope you die a slow lingering death from cancer you scumbags.

Maybe I’m stating the obvious, but:

You can beep it out with an apple device. They also have options to identify the account they’re tied to when you scan them.

Yep it's already been messed with so that it won't give any info or exact location where it is on the vehicle.

I'm more angry about it than he is, me & his son would happily start a vigilante group now & have them swinging from the nearest lamp post as an example.

sorry to hear about the tracker! I am a bit surprised the plod are not interested in it, if nothing else surely it would be a golden opportunity to use it as bait? fit their own tracker to it, or get an undercover unit in place and wait to see if someone does try and pinch it?

I have heard of criminals going to car shows and sticking trackers on peoples cars, but the thought never occurred to me that you could then take it off and stick it something as you suggest and lead them on a fun ol merry chase, like that scene out of Con-Air with the transponder

 

 

as an aside if its going to take a little bit to get the tracker out, perhaps it might be worth seeing if theres somewhere else you can take the mini to? so if there looking at the tracker to see where it lives overnight, they wont find your mates house? but instead some other garage or such? (maybe see if you can pay a local @RoverFolkUs type car garage a few quid to keep it on their premises blocked in behind something a couple days while you try and figure it out?)

Had a few bikes nicked over the years. The first I spotted some kids riding three up. This displeased me to the point I feel it was lucky for all involved my Honda Benly was faster than than the bicycle I were riding when i spotted them. 

Said bicycle got nicked years later. After a foot chase were I managed to keep up due to the gears being out of tune I tracked it down to being dumped in a bush though never caught the little prick. Only his hat. 

Last bike nicked I found being ridden round a track in some local woods by a group of 15 or so men and kids. I waited behind a tree with a big stick on the furthest point of the track and when the ridder got close jumped out. Lucky for all he shit it crashed the bike and ran, leaving me to pick it up and ride it home. 

Ive learned by all this and know i'm wired to go windmilling in and that the result of my actions could result in retribution or doing some bird. 

Sorry got a bit on one there. Yeah, don't get caught.

Utter scum. I've heard of this happening before. Problem is that they now know the likely storage location of the vehicle. I'd be investing in some security for it before anything else.

 I think the best policy is to check for the tracker before leaving the event and going home. I'll leave you to deal with it as you see fit, like heaving it in a river or affixing it to something else like a skip lorry or a bus.

I'm guessing by the mention of Apple, someone's left an AirTag in it - if I'm not mistaken, if an AirTag you don't know is seen to be following you it'll send you a notification if you're running an iPhone.

sorry your right, I meant park it in that space you have IIRC by that neighbour who complains about it, so they if they start to mess with can get a fun surprised when a bunch of burly police officers spring out of the bushes

Yes he has a coclea implant linked to his phone & at first thought it was something to do with this but his son realised it wasn't  that.

South Yorkshire police are the biggest bunch of idol fuckers in the UK  .

It was done outside the house in the 5 mins it was there  ,not found yet  it blocks any attempt to trace it electronically when you get near the van.

Can’t you get GPS jammers for this sort of thing? Often used by thieves when stealing hire cars and stuff.

AirTags are not working on GPS, they are BLE (Bluetooth low energy) and other iPhones ping the location for Find My. That's how batteries last for a year. If it was GPS, it wouldn't last a day on a coin cell.

gps jammers are now illegal , the police now look/scan  for them as they are used  to block car tracking signals , ie chop shops

No luck so far but on checking back the signal has disappeared altogether about half way to workshop.

Has it fallen off?  Hopefully getting access to a "locating wand" ??  To check over it supposedly can locate to within 6in as per the professionals ( not Bodies & Doyle) use.
