Some Late '60s Spots (More added)

No-one in my family has ever thought to take a photograph of their car. There isn't a single picture in our archive. Not to worry, you can always pick up some other family's slide collection at a car boot sale for a few quid.

I don't know who any of these people are, but the photos are all dated between 1967 and 1970.

This Viva appears in quite a lot of photographs. But not as many as...

Meet you by the trees.

You can try and blend in with the trees, but we all see your weird foreign car.

That's not a safe place to leave your baby.

Click to enlarge this messy carpark. This was a tiny section of one slide, so it's not great quality.

I love finding stuff like this - with some choice search keywords on flickr you'll find yourself wasting hours mostly identifying the cars. Chances of that DS being manufactured in Slough would be quite high I reckon. My folks took loads of snaps in the late 60's thankfully - I suppose the novelty of owning a camera meant my old man was particularly trigger happy. I found one with my mum next to their Anglia besides a motorway construction. I'll have to find it again.

I'd love to find a batch of stuff like this - well done Peter! When my grandmother died a year or two ago I pulled out anything car-related from the prints, but I've yet to investigate the slides. My mum is under instruction not to dispose of anything until I've had a sift through them...

They are great aren't they, fantastic find. Is that silver coupe thing you can see the top of in the bottom photo an Aston DB5/6???

Brilliant, I love old slides. We used to have slide parties at my old gaff where we'd go through all these great ones we had and try to make up a good back-story for each of them (back when I smoked weed, funnily enough). I'm a big fan of found photos, there's a few good books with stuff like this in. Actually, if anyone wants to start this slightly weird hobby then i'd suggest a trip to Brighton as pretty much every junk shop/flea market has thousands of old slides for sale, hundreds of old photos too. always good fun. anyway -

It's a DB5 yeh, the 6 has a totally different back end (please write 'I will never confuse the DB5 and DB6 again' one hundred times, and have it on my desk by tomorrow morning)

It's a good hobby! I looked for some more on eBay, but they seem to sell for quite a bit.

The prices of projectors has really fallen recently. About ten years ago I bought (and later sold) a Kodak Carousel for ~£80. There's good ones for a LOT less on eBay now. As for the slides, mine were £3 for around 1000 from a house clearer who was going to chuck them. Never been that lucky since :(

The above slides were all crappy 126 Instamatic jobs which didn't scan too well. Today I started on some 80s Agfachrome slides of the US and Russia which are coming up lovely!

Today: The USA. AND WHAT DO WE HAVE HERE?
