"avtovaz"They interviewed that Chris Goffey on BBC Radio Wales the other day, and the questions were 'why are they so bad', 'what's you favourite Lada joke', etc.If they were talking about VW's or Fords, they'd be scalded for using these pathetic questions.

Can we have the so-called Management to the front desk. How can a broadcasting organisation with the reputation of the BBC* consult amongst others 'The cultural and design critic' (and not just 'a cultural and design critic' :( ), an 'economics expert' and Gloomy John yet not even approach Autoshite HQ for the definitive comment and analysis of this earth-shattering announcement. I think that there are questions to be answered here

* Oh sorry, I've just realised it is a broadcasting organisation with the reputation of the BBC, forget the rest.

It doesn't sound like they're bring back the old VAZ 2105 anyway, it sounds like it'll be a re-badged Dacia. :(

Someone at the BBC should be sacked.

95% of reporting is like this, it's just that most people don't know any better about the subjects.

"Vladimir Putin admires the 4x4 Lada Vita"Strangely Lada Vita shows sod all on Google, and the car he's walking past looks remarkably like a Niva.Stranger still, a Google image search for "Lada niva putin" shows the exact same picture.I can just imagine the scene in the BBC offices.... "Oi, Dave, we're all off down the pub. You finished here?" "Hang on, just gotta write something on this Lada whatsit.... tap tap tappity tap ctrl-c ctrl-v tap tap Yeah done, on my way!".

I was asked to comment on this story, but was unavailableeat the time. I was having my tea & had a particularly good episode of The Gaffer on Sky+ to watch.

It does but tbh honest I don't mind that. If they started punting out new Dacia Logans for around £5k I'd be very very tempted.

If it means we get a RHD version of that Dacia estate thingy then I say BRING IT ON!

I hope the Duster makes it over somehow, especially in base trim.

Dacia eh?You recon it might be the Sandero? You know, the one James May champions on Top Gear.

According to http://www.daciacars.co.uk/ we will be getting the Duster next year.

One I want is the Logan station wagon though, it is literally exactly what we have been looking for in a car.

Weren't pre-catalyst Ladas meant to be pretty reliable? The stories I've heard tend to be along the lines of "It was the coldest winter ever and my car fired up first time".Though I suspect our imported ones fared better than Russian-market ones, I think the importers did a little bit more than cosmetics like that article says.

I read somewhere, Jalopy I think, that it was all the "Rectification" stuff that fell off. and all the proper Lada bits were bombproof.

I would be tempted by one too. I think the Duster will come over and maybe the Sandero, as we a 'hatchback-loving' nation of car buyers.

Ooh. I like. Could this be the B'ling's replacement? :)

D'you think if I walked into Renault Cannock in the morning they'd assist me in ordering one, or try and flog me a bloody Kangoo instead?

Dear Mr Sceptre, please accept my grovelling apology, I should have known that you would already be engaged in matters of sufficient importance to make your involvement completely impossible.

From quick search - the seven seater is going to be priced around £7k, maybe tempted too - have heard that Dacia's don't suffer from over complex electronics and stuff and you can still do DIY servicing on them.

I can't see them having a fantastic safety rating if that bothers anyone on here.

I had a look at one in France when they were first launched over there and they do seem relatively simple. Like Pog, I think the Logan station wagon would be a seriously useful and cheap set of family wheels. Makes an awful lot of sense to me.

Not really. I wouldn't imagine them to be that bad though.

These Dacias are just simplified Renaults, and Renna are pretty good at getting the owd NCAP stars. £7,000 for the 7 seat wagon, I am well up for that. They have the renner 1500dci engine too, same as I have in my van, which while not particularly refined, and the economy claims are a bit spurious, are willing and reliable. Plus in "car" form they get mega-cheap tax when found in Clios & Micras.

Does Euro NCrap crash testing take into account being hit up the arse by a Merc Sprinter overloaded to five tonnes? With your kids in the rearmost seats? :?

I think I may have to sell some of the Cortina's and buy BL and Lada shite to replace them 8)
