Nice selection. Thanks for sharing. Did you at any point get accosted by a rather tall gentleman taking pics for Classic Car of the Year?

Posted

Nice pics. Your Carlton is a Royale. How do you get on with the Panasonic G1? It's a camera I might buy when I have the funds.

The other two cars were a 1987 Corolla EE90 & a 1978 Celica RA28 Liftback.

Lovely day, good weather and friendly show.

I should know that Royale thing. :D Not too sure on the G1, I know nothing about cameras or how to work it, as long as you point and shoot and it comes out good, that's the main thing, and this does it well, even in the dark.Didn't get accosted by anyone! I wasn't there very long tbh.

Great pictures!I wonder if thats Colc's old Metropolitan eh Col?I spy a very nice green Rover P6 in one pic (showing the Maxis) I wonder if that was the one on that BBC4 documentary?

Same boat here for my 450D, Seems to do the job nicely but i haven't a clue what I'm doing, Even after going and buying a book on it that i don't understand!.It's like an expensive point and shoot at the moment!.That big gold Marcos is bloody ugly though!, Never seen one before, What is it?

Marcos MantisFrom Wikipedia:-1971 Marcos Mantis In 1968 came two different cars both called the Mantis. One was a pure racing car, the Marcos Mantis XP, a sportscar-prototype with very aggressive appearance, powered by a mid-mounted BRM-Repco V8.Only one was made. The only race was the 1000 km race in Spa in 1968, were it was DNF because of electrical problems , as the race was hit by severe rains. The other was the 2+2 Mantis, powered by a 2.5 litre Triumph TR6 six cylinder injected engine, but the design was not well received and only 32 were sold.

There's a rumour that John Lennon had a hand in designing that Maorcos.

That 'Metropolitan' is a Nash Rambler IIRC. It was an estate, chopped into a pick up in the 90's. It's been US army colours, and bright pink...

What on earth is that half wooden thing about?Cameras: Just start playing using the Tv and Av settings (on a Canon). I use Tv if shooting something that's moving to control the amount of movement blur I get. If I'm shooting something that's still I use Av to control the amount of the image in sharp focus. A lower "f" number means the sharper the point of focus.

Nice pics, gorgeousish Maxis and ifc63, 4 cars on 1 show sounds like a logistic nightmare... guess you let friends drive them or did you go back and forth on a folding bike?

Great pics. Your Supersport is an XR2 and your RS1600i is an XR3, but wtf does that matter, it's all good. :D

White Reliant/Ford RS200 thingy would give me the raging horn  , didn't even know that there were any roadgoing examples around, saw them being nailed together at Tamworth back in the 19-oatcakes, during a visit with some fellow Rebel owners who were more interested in seeing the engines for the economy range being patched up under warranty than watching history being made....... :|

I did the cheshire shows for a few years with the Manta bods. Got a little dull as it was the same cars every year at the same few shows. Glad to see the IROC Camaro again, though. I love those things. Also, the blue manta with the shiney 6-banger is owned by a fellow I wa quite friendly with but I haven't seen or heard of him for a good few years. Last I saw that car was inbits with the firewall being chopped up to try and shove that big engine a few inches back. Any more piccys of it ? :) The widebody 400 is a replica but the guy also has (or had, last I chcked) a genuine 400 that almost never moves out of the garage.

They met me at my house and drove to the show and back. The idea of a folding bike doesn't quite do it for me :)
