Wedges we love

Look around suburbia today and every car looks muscular. Not "strong silent type" muscular, but "did you spill my pint" muscular. But it wasn’t always like this, so there’s always a hope that fashions will change and 20 inch alloys will be as silly as an Everflex roof.

Before cars looked like a turd dropped from a great height, there was a new age look – the wedge! Probably so far out of fashion it’s due for a comeback soon. To help the car stylists of today build cars for tomorrow, let’s list some inspiration from the wonderful world of wedges 8)

I have a love for fibreglass, so let's kick off with the TVR Tasmin. Ford V6 power and say goodbye to the curvy cars of TVR's past. I like the coupe better than the cabrio.

Another GRP sportscar, the fantastic Lotus Elite. Front engined and 2+2 accommodation.

The Esprit was a classic mid engined wedge

Princess, a wedge for the family man. I have a secret desire for one of these that I can't explain.

I had a book when I was younger that was full of these slightly obscure things from the 70's, I only knew of the Countach.

Wedge shaped cars were all the rage in the 70's, I love the look of many of them The Aston Martin Lagonda is amazing as was most of the Lotus's at the time.

How about the Opel GT, Not totally wedge but still on the same lines.

Or better still the Matra Bagheera?.

I'm not a huge fan of the wedge stuff, but I would adore a DeTomato Pantylina.

Forgot this one - the Lancia Stratos was a perfect wedge, a mate had one on his TCR set when I was 8 and when it crashed it would jam itself under the sofa good and hard.

Expensive wedge, the original Lamborghini Countach

In relation to your original Lamborghini Countach, this Lambo embodies the extravagance of 80s super car design. Its design both pioneered and popularized the wedge-shaped. The Lamborghini parts especially the scissor door seems not pleasing to the car owner this days. If you will have this, this will consume a large parking space.
