It's which side the grooves are on relative to the pointy bits of the keys. 

I can't see a difference between SKO 1 and 2 either. 

These blanks are like £1 each + post to me so if you want I can order you a couple of each for £10 or so.

I can't cut them to code/picture though as my app doesn't recognize that pre-VAG Skoda existed but I reckon a local place should have no problem copying them.

thanks Dave.  I do remember someone on the Skoda forum mentioning there were different lengths so I wonder if 1 and 2 are slightly different lengths

SKO8 has the grooves on the other side of the key so can be ruled out.

According to the graphic above the key Nos. the profile appears to be different. Dredging my memory from long- past key cutting days the length is from the tip of the blade to the 90-degree stop nearest to the tip.

since I downed tools on the Estelle in August its sprung some heavy leaks into the cabin, not sure if its because I have the front jacked up but its getting to be pain bailing it out every time it rains, especially given the crap weather so I thought I'd take a look

First source of leaks I noticed was the sunroof, so that was duly taped up until further notice, but it barely made a difference. I had been told the seal around the heater unit was a prime source of trouble but it looked ok, I might whip it out anyway whilst coolant is drained as the fan motor is temperamental and I can inspect the heater matrix

I mentioned it to the owner of the beige one @Bazfr69 showed above when speaking with him at Rustival and he mentioned he had huge issues on his with the grommet where the heater unit bleed hose passes through the bulkhead and through the luggage compartment to the radiator. I had replaced that hose recently so it popped up to the top of the suspect list, especially as the water did seem to be running through the transmission tunnel close to the heater (because the car is on ramps its pools at the rear seat mounts on the floor pan) I taped that up last week and after the heavy rain the last few days the trans tunnel and passenger side rear where it pooled was dry.  Getting there now.  There is still a small amount of water pooling in the drivers side rear, it seems to be running down the floor pan channels. 

hunting around I found a small drop on a seam around the pedal box

I had been focusing on the scuttle, sunroof, window and doors but this was not in their path

attention focused to the luggage compartment, bingo its seeping through the seems on the pedestal which the master cylinders and servo attach

Taped up so fingers crossed the next rain shower leaves a dry interior and I will know I have identified all the sources

What I am not yet sure is how the water is getting into the luggage compartment. I noticed a dent in one part of the boot seal close by, as if something had snagged there when boot was closed, so I built that up with tape. However it's also wet under the boot liner in other places where I can't see obvious damage to the seal, I wonder if because the front is raised the heavy rain leads to a puddle forming that then breaches the seal somewhere. Either way I will look at getting a new boot seal and see what happens

Chasing a leak is a bloody nightmare. I count my blessings that I have a carport, if not a sexy Estelle to put in it.

yes indeed. I really hope I have them all pinpointed now.  Helps that the interior was already removed to sort the first leak I found (heater hoses)

Water leaks are a pain! I remember one lad telling me that they had a customer complain he had his boot filling with water. The foreman simply remover a bung in the boot floor. 'There you go sir, the water now has a way out!

previous owner of my Favorit got fed up of the spare wheel well filling with water so just drilled a hole in it

I’ve done this with my Audi 100. Looked like too much of a pain in the arse to bail out the water compared to drilling a small hole from underneath 😂 If I ever get round to sorting it to the point of making it watertight then it’ll get a rubber bung, until then it’s sorted*.

No wonder finding the key blanks was a stuggle @Dave_Q  These are the different ones used over the years on the Estelle with seemingly no obvious way of knowing which you have other than looking
