Desperately trying to stitch a deal together

Well it looks like a Taunus.  But the RHD makes me wonder if it used to be a MK2 Cortina?

Close… not actually a Taunus, but a 20M…. Built in South Africa, with an Essex V6 and a five speed box……Strange hybrid…. Capri 2.8 front legs and discs

Factory standard or some kind of Basil Green lookylikey?

Imported fairly recently, and then had a good going through.

Ooh, that looks tidy. I'd say a couple more cylinders than a six. I wonder if it's the 289, the 302 or the biggun, the 427? What ever it is, it's nice. I like!!!

Old Skool Fords are so expensive because of the nostalgia factor.  "My dad had a Capri" or "I really wanted an Escort Mexico back then but I didn't have the money and now I do".   But this Taunus 20M was never in the UK.  There's no nostalgia factor for UK buyers.  Who's gonna pay £23K?

These do fall between two stools…. The U.K. Ford perverts aren’t particularly interested because “ not Dagenham”, ( or wherever)

The continental lot not interested because rhd…..

That looks epic! Much want.

Mind I've hankered after a  Tanus or other euro/SA Ford  for a while but scene tax puts me off.    I wont complain  that they dont get the same appreciating just because it wasn't  made/designed  in Dagenham - cheaper motoring with some lovely oddball engines (V4s) and different syling mixes.

In the eBay the others you might be interested in gree MK4 Tina with a 3.0 in it for 20k

Seems a lot for either something modded or as in the taunus something most people haven't heard of

Lovely but not for that much money

P7 Taunus was the last “ pure” German market built Ford. After that they morphed increasingly into a Cortina, more’s the pity.
