And so it begins...

There'll be some sleep-deprived driver pitting his 2CV into the back of the van if you're not careful with that sign.

(Good luck and thanks so much for the DM)

Today: testing, with appropriate running modifications.

90 minutes of day qualifying kicks off in just over an hour.  Then, after sunset, because a 24-hour race requires some driving in the dark, a further hour of night qualifying.

More later.

4hr55.

George pitted at 1650 with power loss.  Up to 20th.  Timing adjusted, handover to Laurence.  Lengthy FTP.  Engine replaced.  Laurence out after half an hour in the pits.

Laurence in again in short order with the engine pinking like a bastard.  WTF?  This thing had been timed statically AND dynamically.  Timed from scratch using a decent light.  Out again.

Running well now.  Laurence doing 1:57s (5 secs up on qualifying) so leave him out for as long as possible while he's got fuel.

Laurence in 1936, hand over to Glen, back out 1938.  Now running 1:56s.

What identifying features does your car have in the dark?

Orange and blue marker lights on the leading edge of the roof.

We picked up some minor body damage in the very early morning after one of the Minis tried to use the same piece of tarmac.  One of the supports for the secondary dash panel fractured and had to be cable-tied.  Following an element of electricity leakage, the alternator was swapped.  Glen came in just now with a failed wheel bearing, which was replaced.  Laurence now circulating in 21st place (14th in class).
