See that bit just ahead of where you have the axle stand? That should be fitted with a brace that covers the bottom of it and has a web that goes forwards at 45 degrees to the chassis in front of the platform.

There is one 1600GT prototype that escaped the bonfire, but thinking about it, it came with 13" Midget knock-ons, like this:

The fuel tank has (or should have, unless it's a kitreg stainless one) a stud right through it with a nut at either side, so if you get one end undone, there's no need to undo the other as you can knock that through the tank, they do sometimes get a bit rusted into the tube they pass through, but certainly shouldn't be any bolts or setscrews in there. For the tie rod end rubbers and repro tie rod ends for the LH threaded sides of each link, Google for "Amsteer", they're remanufacturing them and their quality is superb.Failing that, tie rod ends are soured from Austin A55 MK2/early A60 (Farina versions), right hand threaded tie rod ends are mini ones. 8)

Will you be taking your test in the Fiesta? You can as long as it has a passenger headrest fitted.

Posted

I would love to take my test in the Fiesta, but to be honest i would be more nervous. So instead i'm gonna be using the driving instructors Corsa .... :( , as i am pretty used to it, so won't be so "on edge"

Posted

Why would you be more nervous? An examiner would see your restored and unmodified Fiesta as being a sensible car and give you brownie points.

Posted

Sorry for anyone getting tonnes of notifications  I would be more nervous as i am not used to it, so kind of have no confidence driving it. Meaning i would make more mistakes and fail.I know someone will now say "Well if you have no confidence driving it, then why own it ?"Well because once i have passed my test, i kind of don't care if i make an odd mistake (Obviously nothing stupid or dangerous) , because i would have passed my test, so will not be under so much pressure and can then build up more confidence. It would just be easier to pass in a car i "know" , then apply what i know to my own car (If you get me)I got a txt from a friend who works in a garage, and he said he will come round tomorrow and check it over for me, as i want to know all the work i have done is upto atleast MOT standard. So fingers crossed and all that :)Edit:Examiners don't care about the car, it is just the level of driving skill you have or don't have (My driving instructor and i had this same chat  )

I randomly saw a Rebel today whist loitering on a business park, It was keeping some crusty old Jensen company, Just a shame i couldn't get a better photo.

Well it's in the yard of these guys if you want to email them asking, http://longdenstransport.com/default.html who are a haulage company.

Right opposite is a scrapyard so i guess there a strong chance someones saved it from the crusher, Looking on google streetview neither car are in the yard so i guess they haven't been there that long but strangely there's a old car in the background, early Vauxhall i think?.

Car under the tarp looks like a Ford Model C 10hp from the early 30s...... Could be wrong though!

LOOK WHAT I FOUND !It was abit late when we got it running, and i did build up the revs once or twice (Just to blow off the cobwebs)And then when it came to video time ... it didn't want to do more than tap it's ass offHopefully when the engine is back in , it sounds ALOT better

There is a Rebel van at Mcguinnesses scrapyard in Stoke, I saw it yesterday:

Thanks for posting that up Retro'It's a shame they don't want to let it go, but fingers crossed they will do something with it.If parts so happen to "Fall off" , i could do with the rear bumper, and it's passenger seat ... ooh and them nice sealed beam headlamps

Posted

Have you seen it already then?? I didn't ask if anything was for sale..

Posted

I kind of think that if they had been a bit more reasonable about pricing, Reliant could have sold shitloads of Rebels/Kittens.

This is the Mk3 SX fiesta i brought off joe.

It failed it's MOT on welding, so i plan on fixing the little thing, throwing some tax and mot on, then selling.

As it only has 48 thousand miles, i'm not going to give up and just bin it.

I gave it a service today, but found a huge oil leak, so the tiny 1.1 is coming out.

I did take a picture of the front but can't find it.

So i will post one up when i find that.

I forgot to mention it has a full RS bodykit and sunroof

I quite like the bodykit, as it is not barryboy fashion, but subtle

Posted

That Fiesta is full of WIN :D love it!That's not an absurd amount of rust for one of those. Mine is far far worse, all four arches are rotten, the back ones are worst obviously followed by the filler cap (it's just fibreglass now), and the front valance. Rear valance is rot free surprisingly!Looks really nice with the RS bodykit on too :)

Posted

Best way to make money on that is to put it straight over the bridge. Sorry.

Not if i can get the sill an arches cheap

That sounds harsh i tend to agree, You'll end up spenting quite a bit on it and it will still be worthless at the end of the day. You'll be better of stripping the body kit of it and flogging it on the bay and weighing it in.

Surely with Tax and Mot it is worth about £300 ?I don't expect megga money for it to be honest :)
