Brill. I ordered very similar plates for my ZX back in MayDF7779F8-DAEF-4C44-AC20-66F586EA2A35_1_201_a.thumb.jpeg.69decc862cf604b98a5c397dfe04018b.jpeg

OOOOOOOH YES!

me like!

i had issues finding original prints for the original dealer, so i had to use the dealer it was sold by in 1997ish but still a citroen dealer

now time to go and drive past the previous owners house (from 97 to 2017)

all i can say is, wow!

Those plates look great. Which company produced them?

You may want to crop the image above with your v5 address details on show mind...

@GregZX needs to delete the photo from his quote too...

hmmmmmmm

it's driving really nicely and doing very well with no issues

suspiciously well in fact!

i'm sure it'll break soon

honestly, this has technically been more reliable than my red C5

Once stuff was sorted properly, I also found mine to be incredibly reliable.

Hope it keeps on bringing the smiles.

I’ve been painting today

before, blistered paint and just looked a bit crap

so yes, I decided I’d fix it, no real prep of course as per usual

looked good halfway through, surprisingly good!

laquer time

im rather surprised at how good this looks, needs another coat of lacquer so will do that soon

28BE2E7D-8F19-44ED-9FAA-9D2FB052866A.thumb.jpeg.29ed529fc5a2c50cdb3be92fc3ec81ee.jpeg

overall I’m relatively pleased

im going to sort the rest of the bodywork, try to get it looking good

otherwise it’s still working! Lasted long enough that my 6 months tax I put on it will need renewing soon

Posted

something interesting i did do recently however

i tried removing the kickdown cable for the gearbox

as simply if you try to accelerate firmly it kicks down and revs up to 3.5k or so, therefore you have almost no acceleration due to it running out of steam

here's a video of i'd say 70% throttle with no kickdown

it's not a Tesla but it's pretty quick really!

Posted

if it wasn't needed it wouldn't have it- pit it back how you found it and stop fannying around with this halfhearted kick downs

run out of steam at 3500- pah 4500 more like!

press the fcuking pedal man!

Well I’ll put it back once I adjust it to only kick down towards the bottom of the travel

i don’t want it to rev too high, in case it breaks

Posted

you can't rev it too high cos diesel and governer

Posted

so, i popped the kickdown cable back on the other day

and took it for a proper blast out, tons of clag out the back and was running better

but.....

ah shit

No photo description available.

buggery!

i'm actually going to be sensible now and not drive the car until i've replaced the seals

also, whilst i'm at it

would there be any disadvantage in replacing most the under bonnet fuel hoses with new?

they're not expensive and well, mine are a bit bodged and original

It’s diesel

its not posh enough to have a/c

better it did whilst you were pratting around than on a lengthy journey

Oh yes

i’ll admit it’s been leaking for a couple of months

but only bad enough for a drip of two whilst parked, until this week…..

still waiting for my new seals to arrive so I can sort it and start using it properly again

im likely going to replace most the under bonnet hoses with new as well, they’re cheap enough so might as well……can’t see 30 year old rubber being much good

replaced the fuel pump seals, not tooooooo bad

but i think i've fucked up

the throttle shaft seems to keep jamming no matter how i put it in

has anyone got any advice on how i can sort this?

also, exciting times......i managed to get the factory stereo working! doesn't it look cracking

I can’t figure this damn pump lid out

no matter what I try it will not go back on without the throttle spindle jamming

Can you find a workshop manual for this? Because it might help. Or a manual or sketches of the diesel pump/ throttle.

But if you post pictures with explanations of the problem, it might help us understand the problem?

That's all I can help with unfortunately.

Posted

Okay so the copper tube on the lid had slipped down slightly jamming it

hammered that back in and we have a moving pump

however, when assembled it runs away when started…..but it doesn’t leak so that’s a bonus

im close to sorting it, I can feel it

Posted

hmmmmmmm

fuel screw works the opposite to how i'd expect, turn it in gets more fuel, turn it out less fuel

i wonder

if i turn it out a fair way and try it again i may get this sorted

as you can see

here, the car is not at home

oh and what's that

No description available.

idling too!

that can only mean one thing

yes

i did it

i managed to do it

me, someone who takes his cars to a garage to be serviced, never really done anything this involved before

i've done it

it doesn't leak either!

hot idle is a tad low at times but that's it

Posted

bolt came slightly loose on the throttle spindle

no worry, it seemed to stick around 2,000 rpm so cruise control!

ordered a top cup for the throtle spring as i dropped mine

but otherwise, all is fine, idle a tad low but that's it

runs great, no smoke, or leaks

so, as i've spent a good amount of time working on this car lately

massively improving it

it's decided to repay me, show me what i'm worth

heater fan has become intermittent and packed up completely just now

oh and whilst messing with the radio just now i had to take it out of park

so i applied the parking brake

THUNK

now it creaks massively

so, either a cable has popped off or snapped

superb!
