Out Run Posted April 16, 2022 Posted April 16, 2022 Isuzu Trooper rear dampers, original springs - couldn't get OE replacements/Disco/Musso (my chosen option, as they also provide a lift) - with 40mm polyurethane lift blocks. The front has new, OE dampers, with KIA Sorento springs - taller and stiffer - fitting the 40mm lift blocks on the front ain't happenin', without getting really sketchy. As is, it sits pretty evenly and must be 60mm higher. So it will do for now. It also rides a lot better, after that. Both the front and the back were a ball ache. The rear dampers had to be cut in half and flats ground on, bolt grips used. Fronts, the top mount nuts required nut splitters, bolt grip sockets, Dremel, angle grinder, hammer etc 😂 Building up the chassis and then bolting the body on, leads to some access issues! It took some Russian dude 6 hours to do the rear on his, I reckon I'll call Guiness. I was clear in a sprightly 4. I'm just glad it wasn't the top clamp that let go. As I was setting to undo the top nut, at the time. Luckily I found some banger lads who built the new units up for me, for £20. On Good Friday, no less! Shame that the longer studs, that came with the lift blocks provided by Igor (probably), needed the top mounts drilled out. So it was a race against time for me to whip home and sort them. Job jobbed. All good. Shirley Knott and tooSavvy 2

Out Run Posted May 9, 2022 Author Posted May 9, 2022 Shifted these roofing sheets about half a mile, from my parents to my sisters. One Time rolled up on me in a Corsa and politely pulled me over (headlight flash). He was sound as. Just recommended I tie something visible to the back of the load. TBH, I usually do. 😬 Shirley Knott, Jim Bell and DSdriver 3
Jikovron Posted May 10, 2022 Posted May 10, 2022 Once you get that safari rack on anything goes, telegraph poles and 4m insulated roof sheets on top, a pallet of cement in the back and 2t of ballast on the triple axle etc Jim Bell and Out Run 1 1
Out Run Posted May 20, 2022 Author Posted May 20, 2022 This payload had to be close to a tonne. All the soil and some concrete. 👀 Squattin' like quarter mile hero @Jim Bell leaving the christmas tree. She was only in the Whistlin Diesel crosshairs for a couple of hours, though. All back to normal, now and as a result, about 100mm higher. Well done, Rex. I'll give your plywood floor a sweep out with a yard brush, as a treat. 500tops, JayB, puddlethumper and 10 others 9 4

Out Run Posted May 26, 2022 Author Posted May 26, 2022 Decided to cut some holes in a perfectly good wing. I still need to couple it up to the air box. It is for a 120 Landcruiser, so not exactly plug and play. But you wouldn't know, from the outside. #FLEXTON 😅 AnnoyingPentium, 500tops, DVee8 and 11 others 14

Drilling 12 holes through the Mondeo roof skin and then opening up 8 of those with a hole saw, was a bit of a concern at the time, though. 😂 500tops, Jim Bell and Lacquer Peel 3

Hot snorks Some folk still like them. Personally, I never have. They were a TOMS design, for the BEAMS engined cars and originally, came with a sealed air box. So they may have done something, kinda, - aside from rubbing paint off the car - not just looked gash. Jim Bell 1
Out Run Posted May 27, 2022 Author Posted May 27, 2022 Supposedly snorkel head designs are the way they are, so they aren't affected by rain. Any that does get in will probably be dried by the intake charge, or perhaps lie in the bottom of the air box. It's not going to be like blasting a hose down it.
Jim Bell Posted May 27, 2022 Posted May 27, 2022 Can't be any worse than cars with big intake scoops on the bonnet for tmics surely. I know some snorkels have a leak off for BIG water ingress.
