"It looks like my friend has run into problems, I won't be able to meet her here. I was really looking forward to seeing her." she said disappointedly, staring into her mobile phone. "But thank you for keeping me company. I didn't get your name?"

"Donald Turnbull. B-but my friends call me Don", he lied.

"Well, thank you, Don. I'm Emily. It's been nice speaking to you."

She held out her hand, her pink nail polish glittering under the dim lighting. Donald nervously shook her hand. It was so warm, her skin so smooth. Though just a simple handshake, to the affection-starved Donald it was the closest thing to a tender moment he had experienced in years. His heart skipped a beat as he let go. Emily smiled brightly.

"Night!" she exclaimed, reaching for her bag.

Donald clenched his fist and stood up. "Wait! Since you're here now, why don't I buy you a drink?" he stammered anxiously. "Just a quick one!" he added.

Emily looked up, surprised. "Really? Well... I guess I... OK, why not!" she smiled.

Donald fumbled through his wallet and pulled out a crumpled £10 note, waving it over the bar

With one arm around Emily, he used his other to light a cigarette. He took a long drag, then balanced it carefully on the bedside ashtray. What started as a typical evening had become the best night of his life. Emily's warm and soft body pressed up against his, causing him to chuckle.

"Oh, Donald." she smiled. "When we started talking at the bar, I can't believe it would lead to this."

Donald replied with a positive sigh, his head still dizzy with excitement.

"Look at the time, it's nearly 5 in the morning!" she giggled.

Donald chuckled. "If we'd lasted much longer, we wouldn't be up in time for TV-am!" he joked.

"What's TV-am?"

"You know, breakfast telly."

"Oh, you mean like GMTV?"

"What? Oh! Yes, of course. It hasn't been TV-am since something like the mid-90s."

Emily laughed heartily. "How would I know that, Don? I wasn't even born!" She smiled and squeezed his hand again.

Donald felt a cold sweat form over his entire body as the colour drained from his face. He felt his stomach clench. He felt disorientated. His eyes widened as he stared directly into hers, abruptly releasing her hand. He stared at her with a serious, yet distant expression.

I dont have £1200 available unfortunately!!! I did have £200, but I splurged it on a Cavalier instead :roll:

 

This looks a great buy for someone, needs the cylinder head looking at, but its one of those OHV efforst so can be done at the roadside with a crap toolkit:

I didn't, was it on display when we went? I think they must move stuff about a fair bit, I'll have to go again one day, they've got two Goggos that I'd like to see that weren't out either

Fair enough, because running an MGB GT as a second 'fun car' is probably a right hassle. i mean where do you get parts for a 40 year old car from? It's sheer madness, that's what it is. I'd suggest something like a first generation Audi TT for this chap
