I have a buy it now price of £1000, I believe this reflects the scrap value of the car, if you were to dismantle it and sell the parts which are still good (and now very rare!!) I believe you would be able to sell the parts for over £1000 in total

Oh aye, a competitive and obviously well-researched strategy there.

I was doing some court work and dealt with a recently closed case on some G-reg car, looked up the registration and it was a Montego Estate 2.0 GTi! Must have been interesting before it knocked over that traffic light at 2am.

OH MY F*****G DAYS

Apologies for quoting a picture but that is just brilliant. Utterly, utterly brilliant and I want that so badly I'd sell my soul to get it. Learnt (learned?) to drive (and passed my test) in a hatchback version of this model. I'd happily trade the Cortina for this in a heartbeat.

Right, time for a cold shower...

Yes, it's a good job that Cavalier is in Kent or I'd have sold a limb by now. Wonderful. It's got a brown dashboard FFS!

If you buy that I will personally drive you down to get it.

Then I'll bombard you with private messages for weeks on end until you sell it to me when I get the money :D

Jesus. Does every surviving 305 Estate have an MOT tide - mark?

Also:

Please ensure that this is what you want before bidding.

Aye, and make sure no home made cider is near the computer when you luzz a snipe bid on an auction and forget all about it until you mysteriously win at work the next day.

This sold on eBay a few weeks ago for £310. Not a bad profit margin there...

"I HAVE HAD THE FRONT VALANCE REPAINTED BY A PROVISIONAL." Sprayed with machine gun fire?

Give the guy a fugging break! It's hard to get Hammerite Hammered paint to give a smooth finish!!!! :D

I suspect it was only those of us on this side of the Irish Sea that got that one, a60.

I had a similar confusion regarding learnt and learned - turns out that learnt is correct British English for learned in the past tense.

I just use learned to avoid confusion ;)

K.I.SS. is the best practice

What he means is he's never MOT'd it, although if you drop him a few quid he'll print one out for you...

Soz to be pedantic but it's more like that he means 'I got a form from the Post Office/DVLA that doesn't actually apply to this truck but I've winged it so far. Having pushed my luck I don't fancy having VOSA tear me a new arsehole, so you can buy this old banger that'll never pass an MOT without major investment and I'll just wash my hands of the whole thing'.
