Which, it turns out, is not far from the truth; except he got caught. It's 1974 of course.

When I was 3 I managed to knock off the handbrake on my Mum's Renault 12 & it rolled down our drive & into a fence.  Luckily she went easy on me as she should have locked the doors!

Also the handbrakes were crap on those if i remember correctly

Yes all it needed was a twist of the handle & it would come loose.
