Shabby chic Farina

Took these pics today of what must be the tattiest Farina I've ever seen, I've seen it on the road close to home and in the nearby South Hams area being driven by a chap who looks like a tramp for a few years now and can confirm its a diesel powered example! This is the first time I've seen it with the camera handy, and close up. Christ its rough :lol: It was in a layby on the Plymouth to Kingsbridge road, in the middle of nowhere with keys in the ignition, guess nobody would nick it

jeeezus!! I guess from the lack of tax and the lack of metal he is driving it sans MOT as well...

Not a good state to get in , there used to be a weekly market near me , there was an old giffer who used to sell fruit and veg from the back of a Hunter estate , makes the Farina look good , at least there isnt grass growing out the wheelarches and screen rubbers on this , wish id taken a piccy now

I was just wondering how on earth that was MOT'd. Seeing the tax disc (and the general state of the car) I'm guessing its not!

Am I right in assuming that the black plates will not get picked up by ANPR?

That is amazing! Nice one!I thought we would have long passed the days of seeing something like this.

Extraordinary! True timewarp stuff, the sort of thing that might be seen 30+ years ago.

So it IS taxed then  Presumably that means it's MOT'd as well :shock: Bugger me. Someone find out who MOT'd that :lol::lol: Surely he must be as bent as a nine bob note or mad or blind. More to the point, I must book my stuff in with him.:lol:

Vehicle Status SORN Not Due

Its SORNd rather than taxed I think.... Just that the SORN renewal isn't yet due.

If that's MOT'd then I'm Harold fucking Wilson.MAXIMUM respect to whoever's driving around in this thing though.

I'd be more concerned about WHERE it is. The bloke must have suspected cabin fever I reckon. Either that or he's a typical pikey off for a bit of poaching. Either way, someone to steer well clear of. Just as well he wasn't about when the photos were taken

Ironic, then that there appears to be a "Keep Devon Tidy" sticker in the car.Errrr.......

What an ace motor!Would love to roll up to a Farina owners club meeting in that.

I have to confess, I had exactly the same thought  I bet it's a right bastard to drive! the fragile front suspension looked like it hadn't seen grease gun in a while

It's a reflection from the sign in the lay-by.

+1It would be funny rocking up to the annual Cholmondeley show in that with the front end going SQWJING SQWJING into the paddock, and then shoving it on the Farina stand with their Pimms and cock polished chrome. I'd buy a bottle of value Squash and present it to the chairman's wife.

Hmmmmmm.............bung a couple of white ribbons on from Poundland and it would make an ideal wedding car for some of the rather common chavs that reside in this neck of the woods.Q: What do you call a Stevenage girl in a white tracksuit?A: The bride.

Are those snails crawling up the rear nearside quarter panel?

Am I right in assuming that the black plates will not get picked up by ANPR?

Incorrect. Black and silvers get picked up fine, it's the contrast they work on. However, bent and crusty plates like that covered in years of road grime maybe don't ;)

Excellent - the sort of thing that you used to see around the rural counties in the mid 1980s. Reminds me of a heroically battered and rusty grey mk1 Cortina I used to see around Worester circa 1985. It had an old roof rack on and all - very 'rat look', 15 years before anybody with an old Beetle had even thought of it.

Amazingly tatty but goes to show they will just soldier on.

I think you guys have the wrong end of the stick regarding the CO-OC  Obviously there are originality freaks but bear in mind a fair proportion (if not the majority) of members are/were connected to racing  This was on the club stand at the BMC/BL rally a few years ago.
