Dreaming of shite

Last night, I dreamt I'd bought a Chrysler Avenger off the 'bay. It was LHD, was nearly out of petrol and I'd left it running for a bit to charge up the battery. Smashing. It was a kind of sandy yellow/orange colour. A few months ago I bought a black Cortina in my dream!I often have dreams that involve my GSA, or my dad's old Mk3 escort that I wish I'd been old enough to inherit before he sold it.My most recent GSA dream involved attempting to drive through a flood but the water was too high and came up over the bonnet - so I reversed out again. What shite have you dreamt about?Mark.

I remember once dreaming about driving down the road in a Triumph Dolomite, but gradually changed from driving using the gearstick, steering wheel etc to pulling bits of string in different directions in order to drive it! I have no idea why.

I very rarely remember my dreams. However on Friday night I was absolutely zonked and my mind was definitely playing tricks. I distinctly remember being driven around Huddersfield or some such not far off the M62, in a non-descript Japanese 80's car/minicab by a member of this forum

Seth - Huddersfield eh? Probably the Stanza. Brown rat fur interior with No Smoking stickers. Has a very faint "Eden Camp" musty smell counteracted by a very faint "Feu Orange" chemical smell.

Hmm, I don't remember that and I thought smell was supposed to be the most memorable sense?! I told Mrs_Seth. She laughed at me.

Haa ha^ change of sheets for you lot it seems.Actually, I'm sure I dreamt once that the CX got wrecked or something. Or that i was in a mild prang that was somehow a million times worse than I thought - like bent chassis an all that.I also recall (possibly the same time) that I felt I was driving the CX but that it was sometimes a DS and never really settled into either then i wasn't actually 'driving' it - I sort of WAS the car!!?? - that was strangely nice in a weird sort of way.Do I need help? yes

A couple of years ago I had a dream in which I was having a car made by the cowboys off that Chop Shop programme. All I can recall is that it was full of problems, wasn't anything like I'd asked for and I know I woke up before I'd even driven the bugger.

I have a recurring dream where I am trying to parallel park my old Great Wall Deer with very little success. I have another where I am trying to reverse the Jag into the garage with similar results. And another where I am filling the Grand Cherokee with diesel instead of petrol and seem to be stuck in that instant where I suddenly realise what I've done.Laying off the Cornish Camembert seems to work though.

Wasn't there a topic like this a while back? well i never posted on that before it dissappeared so...I remember my dreams every night, and they almost always involve cars in some way. When i drive in dreams i have very little control over what i'm doing, the brakes never seem to work and i almost always crash. i guess this is to do with being a non-driver, the actions of controlling a car aren't things i do in my everyday life so they dont translate into my dreams. since joining autoshite and seeing everyones spotted threads i find myself spotting old shite a lot in my dreams, usually i dont have my camera and i run around trying to remember where all the cars are parked so i can come back later and get some pics...sad i know. there are actually too many dreams like this to list, but one i had this week involved me being paired with Clarkson for a top gear challenge where they took three old cars and tried to update them with the things you'd expect from a modern motor (central locking, automatic wipers, heated seats/screens, abs etc). we were in a Minor traveller, and there was a Herald and Mini as well. whilst driving it i remember passing a couple of Princesses and a few P6s, and i said to clarkson ''oh i must come back later so i can take some photos of those'' yesterday i had one where i went on holiday with my auntie, and i was driving her car for her, which was a lovely beige Citroen LN. again lots of old tat i wanted to photograph, tried to go back to the hotel to get my camera but got lost in a big disney-style resort and woke up....Oh, and CT, reccuring dreams where you are constantly unable to perform a task are 'anxiety dreams', and usually mean there is something in your life that you are anxious about being able to do, perhaps something thats been weighing on your mind for a while. when you manage to overcome the obstacle in life the dreams stop.

Yup - it's a long list. Mostly to do money and being many thousands of miles away from it.

Ones that stick out for me are one where I am driving a Humber Hawk (badly) and end up understeeering into some parked cars due to heavy steering. Another one is where I am driving my part assembled 2CV with the body not quite properly bolted down onto the chassis. Last nights involved quite a pleasant trawl round some scrapyards where the highlights included a battered Honda N600 and a Citroen Ami bodyshell that I thought would come in handy.Best recurring one is me being in a toyshop with stacks of Corgi cars on the shelves- always wake up disappointed to find I haven't got the basketful I had picked in the dream.

One of two car dreams I've had involved me running my old English teacher over in my Ford Ka, which was transparent apart from the dials. It was a bit like that old Duckhams QXR advert - I could see the engine firing away, and then it felt like a camera panning back through the bulkhead to the radio display (which was solid) and then I ran him over and kept my foot in.Fuck knows what it was about. We got on very well so I don't why I dreamed about running him over. When I do dream it's almost filmic, my mind's camera moves about and it's not only from my perspective. Ambient colour is normally washed out and desaturated (practically B&W) as well save for specific things like my Ka dials. There was also a fucking horrible one off nightmare I had where I was in this massive ampitheatre in my C4 trying to get away from a monster truck. I was virtually flat out and this damn thing gained on me without even trying. First I lost all the windows, and then the car got more and more battered. Then I got stuck in a ditch, all the doors jammed and I couldn't climb out of the window. Then the inevitable happens and I got squished by the monster truck. Then some credits run like the end of a film, but all the titles are blurred like I'm watching telly without my glasses on. The only thing I remember was the one credit that isn't obscured - 'WRITTEN BY MR DAVIS WHALBECK'. Who the fuck that is, I've no idea. God help this person (if he does exist).I don't really dream ATM, I don't think my day to day thought processes are thorough enough to warrant any unconscious rumination.I remember being really tired after eating a curry in Rusholme and driving back to Lancaster where I was living at the time. If I'm knackered enough I hallucinate badly. The route I took was M60 - M61 - M6, and I got past the Trafford Centre under the sodium lights and the trails from the beams 'lagged', like when you take a photo on a slow shutter. I kept snapping out of this bizarre trance where the trails were hooking on to the car (my 306) and following me. Cue me driving faster and faster (circa 100 mph) to try and get rid of them. I managed most of the M61 alright because I kept at a high speed with both windows down.I was in real trouble when I hit the unlit bit of the M6, as I'd put the windows up. All kinds of stuff began appearing in front of me, some it weird, some of it comical. In no order, I saw:1. My two housemates Mike & Danny walking towards the car waving2. A red Seat Cordoba swerve into my lane (there was nothing there)3. An elephant in Lane 14. A rotating grey satellite dish in the central reservation.Near the Forton services I actually fell asleep, and only came to because of the rumble strip on the hard shoulder. I was about 5 seconds away from stacking it into the barrier. I stood on the brakes hard and came to stop amid a cloud of tortured Michelin.I put both windows down again and carried on into Lancaster off J33 and the A6 VERY SLOWLY INDEED. Mad shit.

Another dream I've had is where I've parked my car somewhere but can never ever find it again. When I try to call my wife to come and get me, I can't dial her number properly as my fingers go all stupid on me.

You kept driving?

Last night my dreams had me parked in the car park of Barnstaple Junction railway station, in Devon, in a Moskvich estate car, loading old railway semaphore signals into the back.... A psychiatrist could organise an entire conference with this thread! "Nurse, the screens!"

I had a dream last night that my shite storage facility (which was somehow far larger in the dream than in reality) had been bought by Simon Cowell without my knowledge to turn into some kind of facility for X Factor wannabes. I was in a bit of a panic because I couldn't find any of my cars and I was terrified that Mr Cowell had scrapped the Renault 6, but he hadn't - he'd just completely dismantled it for ease of storage. For some reason I was quite relieved by this.Anyone care to psychoanalyse the above?
