Ethanol Free Petrol

Taking the Ethanol out of Petrol.

I'm not a chemical engineer, but isn't the petroleum distillate part of E5/E10 fuel of a lower octane rating than ye olde ethanol-free fuel ? In which case removing the ethanol may not be a good idea...

Also, if you extract the ethanol from E10 petrol are you not left with 10% less fuel than you started out with?  In which case you might as well just buy E5 super unleaded (which is <5% dearer than 95 octane) and have done with it.

Or buy SUL from Esso which despite the pumps indicating E5 (max 5%) actually has E0

dont really get these videos ...who the hell is going to have a 50ltr+ set of equipment, then another tank to transport it home to mess about with every fill up

either have your shed burn down and get some lurgy from the fumes etc

Can imagine the insurance forms to Footman James when the garage with the classic burns down due to 'anti-E10 diy distillation games'.

My local offie don't even bother separating the ethanol from the petrol for the bottom-shelf vodka!
