My first ever collection thread

I've done many a car collection over the past few years but never actually documented any of them, so I thought it was about time that changed.

Today was an early start, quick cycle to the station, first train to London absolutely fine. Use an app called Seat Frog to get upgraded to 1st class on the next train for a tenner - yay! Train cancelled - balls.

Got an hour wait so time to take a mortgage out on a Cornish Pasty (seeing as I'm headed in that general direction) and a coffee. 20210620_104854.thumb.jpg.9ea1818441960948f04eb1058207a1b6.jpg

He said a clue, not a description of one bean in a tin.

This is not my lucky day for travelling! Got on the next train only to be told there's been a problem in Slough so no trains can leave London for a while. At least I'm in 1st Class.

Scores on the doors so far:

Cancelled trains - 1

Delayed trains - 1

Coffees - 1

Poos - 1

Sadly this collection is now postponed until tomorrow. They've cancelled my train and all the other trains going out of Paddington, which means by the time they're running again it'll be too late to catch my bus. Going to  wait around in London until they're up and running again, aim get to Bristol tonight, have a few beers and then complete this mission in the morning.

Delayed trains - 1

Cancelled trains - 2

Isn't there some kind of bonus points system for emergency night(s) away during a koleckshun? Obs only on the way out, though.

Take 2!

Nice to be on a train that moves, watching a bit of Harry's Garage to pass the time. 20210621_100035.thumb.jpg.5eedb4271c0b7d258bbe7c2ce45fc28f.jpg

Fingers being crossed - 4

I saw a sign while in London showing that the ULEZ zone is going to be extended in October. New car isn't subject to the ULEZ so that'll be handy.

Being a bus wanker. Have drunk far too much coffee and now I need a wee. I forget there's no toilets on buses.

Car collection fun continues as the bus has just broken down! Thankfully just got on another one. Still need a wee.

It's grim down South. Rain? Not seen that in weeks up this way?

Looking forward to some old diesel or even older petrol if it's not ULEZ compliant?

Fortunately, non-compliant cars will still be able to circumnavigate the North Circular (A406) and legally enter the Ace Cafe car park. Phew.

....and have Tetraboost added to their fuel. Hopefully there'll be sufficient emissions to be blown into the ULEZ zone.

Hmmm, nothing for 5 hours - did the bus get lost?

I’m also getting worried, it’s his first collection after all.

After two cancelled trains, three moving trains and a broken bus, it's so nice to get back into a car, and what a lovely wafty car it is too!

Thanks to @HMC for selling it to me, being a total gent and being very understanding after my slightly disastrous journey.

I love the very blue interior, toasty bum warmers, electric goodies and seemingly endless torque. Trip computer is saying an average of 42 mpg too which isn't at all bad for a 20 year old bus.

What a chaotic first collection - well done - May your journey home be slightly less eventful :)

Nice car btw

Glad you like it,  after a few of them under my belt chose it for the spec and the interesting history.

Was great to meet you @JayB and put a face to a (user)name!

Glad you got there and got it and, presumably, back home. Um, isn't it 10, rather than 20, years old though on an 11 plate?
