Wheres the filler anyway?BTW, gas doesnt send carbon and cack into the oil like petrol does so it stays "fresh" for much longer. I bet the lump is still like new dispite covering 204k taxi miles.

Hey mk1_4dr, I bet your missus will be fairly unsurprised to hear that your prediction came true. Might a bit of a trip for you, Stockport! Might be best if I get the train, it'll only be about twenty quid. Cheers for the offer though!

You can get manual and auto Laurels, autos seem more common though. No six-cylinder in this one I'm afraid, just a scum-spec four-cylinder with a carb. It looks rather pathetic inside for a Laurel - manual window winders, no rev counter, plastic floor!

Boot's got this in it:

Wonder how that'll work then? Never had anything on LPG before.

Hirst, I will pick you up from Stockport station and run you to get this. I live really close to Stockport and would love to see it!

Yeah if you want to! Might be a weekday evening though.

Not a problem. When are you picking it up? Make it Heald Green and I can pick you up straight after work!

He's coming back to me tomorrow when he finds out his shift patterns so I'll see from there!

Yeah I'm not fond of those Silvia wheels. Might see if I can get some standard Laurel C32 alloys, we never got them here with steels did we?Either that or I'll chuck the Equips on it.

Not so fast with the delusions of grandeur Hirst, it`s getting some Urvan or "One-Ton Pick-up" wheels. And that is that.

Great purchase, will you be getting the beads-on-strands seat covers and curtains for the rear windows?

Posted

Top purchase Mr H... my mate gets LPG in Stoke for something daft like 38p a litre.

Posted

That is a quite incredible purchase, Han_Dirst!Four hundred and ninety five quid is bordering on the "anything will do" category of motoring, populated by rusty Fiestas and ticking-timebomb K-series Rovers.Go get something smart that has a full and proper LPG system is quite a coup, and for that to all come wrapped in a JDM taxi package is amazing!I think you have pulled off one of the biggest blags of ever here, and you are gonna look supa_cool in the process. Win-win-win situation.

Don't they have 6 stud wheels? I guess FWD Bluebird or Primera wheels would fit and be easy to come by, but the offset might be all to pot.Like pog said, that's an unbelievable bargain. What's up with the PAS, is it the pump?

Hey Hirst, want a set of 7x15 steelies for it? I've got some Weller steel rims that look like this...

oh could I bring the T72 along for a wee convoy/moral support ? :)

Superb work Hirst :D !Like CIH, I thought for a moment you'd bought a diesel Avensis or something....should have known better. When this beast first appeared for sale about 6 months ago for £1295 I remember you saying you'd end up with it when it got cheaper!

Dunno yet! I'll probably try the Equips on it for a bit as I'm changing the wheels on the Galant and it seems a shame to have them sat around in the corner of the garage when they've got nice tyres on!

Might look a bit confusing that one!

Posted

Well done! My dead Laurel won't be going anywhere for a while yet, so if you find there's anything you need let me know.Unfortunately I don't have a set of steels the right size for this. Well, I do but they're on my older Laurel and you're not having them!If fitting alloys, do a trial fit on the front first. The brake backing plates are quite big and might foul the rims - that happened to me when I tried to fit alloys off an older Laurel/Skyline.

That has to be BARGIN BIN of the decade. With LPG to boot (in the boot) Top Purchase! 8)

Wow, congratulations! Getting off to a very shite 2010 already mr H. Good bloody job!

Certainly different. And strangely 8). Nice work Hirst.

But it´s more than 4 metres long, I guess...:lol::lol::lol::lol::wink:

Indeed! :D (and it would be very expensive in road tax over here, heavy and on lpg...)

Will do, with a bit of luck it should be in my white-gloved hands next week.

Hirst, that is epically great. I think you just rewrote the AS book there!

Michiel, why is LPG in a high tax bracket where you are? and hence, why then do I see so many more LPG cars in NL than anywhere else?

Good question... I guess it's a way to stop people from enjoying cheap motoring - still possible when your car is tax exempt though, LPG doesn't affect tax exemption. Diesel is in a higher tax band too, and modern G3 LPG cars are in between. Lower fuel prices (at the moment I think Euro95 is 1.40 euro a litre, diesel 1.05 and LPG 0.60) mean that when you do over a certain amount of km a year (usually around 20,000 or thereabouts for LPG and 30,000 for diesel) LPG and diesel cars are cheaper to run, so there are still quite a lot of them on our roads.

I saw this out and about on the M60, probably about 12 months or so ago, but the traffic was too busy to arse around getting a photo. However, it looks even more cool actually out on the tarmac.Congratulations, Hirst-San on the first, and possibly best, AS acquisition of 2010.I'd say I was jealous, but the thought of the massive row I'd have with Mrs Sporty if I brought this home, kind of curbs my enthusiasm.
