Regarding the corrosion on the strut tops i mentioned earlier

here is a photo

i was considering using a wire brush and then applying rust converter to it, anyone got any tips/reccomendations?

I would give them an inspection - they used to fail on xantias - and ruin the bonnet.

Wire brush them and phosphoric acid, primer and any top coat. I have done my last 2 and they are not as bad as Xantia's.

been having a little think today, seeing as i have now covered over 1100 miles in this car and i can tell it's a goodun

i'm going to put the effort into making this one a minter

won't hard either as apart from a few scuffs the paintwork is lovely

jetwashed it today to clear the salt off

This is often the earth which you can easily add back in and screw to some metal body nearby . I haven’t done this but I think it was the crowning glory of the previous owner’s as he was so proud of getting it working again!

an update

it's now working again!

also CHECK THIS OUT!

yes, that is indeed a half functioning heated rear window, huge rarity for C5 estates i've been told

of course, it will likely break now

only 1 heated mirror works though

This is interesting. What did you buy? Is this something that plugs in to the CD changer?

I’ve been weighing up whether to add a Bluetooth adapter https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/201308854361

guy i bought the car from gave me it, it's a nextbase kit that uses an FM transmitter

a lot better than i expected it to be

i was bored today so i randomly started doing some bodywork

zero prep, in the street and didn't use primer

this was it before

173877151_166104615380949_7760888858913385294_n.jpg.ce81d56df77cd4e76af8c90f428cf6cc.jpg

i used a wet spong and wiped away some of the dirt

sprayed into the lid of the spray paint and used a fine paint brush and cotton bud to apply

173122879_484390152597272_8653427863559557278_n.thumb.jpg.00dd9f4561a51afb5489bb77ed5925be.jpg

after being surpried it looked alright i decided to lacquer it

look, it's almost professional!

173194935_954702948605607_810195207094476724_n.jpg.64de7c0fbe2b69181f63ed0e90a0b48b.jpg

of course, i couldn't stop there

so i wound up respraying the bumper piece, yes i actually masked it off!

a few coats, then i noticed there was a line from where i painted and applied fresh lacquer so i sprayed lacquer along the entier piece of trim

of course the finish isn't perfect

but doesn't it actually look pretty bloody good!

certainly an improvement

That small dent under the scratch will probably push out from behind with a bit of heat and gentle pressure.

i've got a glue gun puller, don't even know if it's worth pulling

quite a tidy example at the moment

There is absolutely nothing to report

it's fine, smooth and addictively wafty

fuel economy seems decent, around 41mpg (i have been doing a fair amount of hooning cos it handles better than it has any right to)

450 miles on 3/4 of a tank so far, huge fuel tank! 68 litres i believe

I had a missing V on my VTR badge which was causing me great upset

However, the nice man from the internet that i purchased this fine french machine from sent me a VTR badge

which i applied today, using superglue

badly of course, getting glue on my hands

Just had something weird happen, probably my imagination combined with perhaps a dip in the road

anyway just moved the car and thought i'd check the lights while it's dark etc

engine still running, got parked and put it in park

as i released the brake it seemed to move a fair bit before rocking like crazy

almost seemed as if it stuck in reverse for a second or two.....was probably the parking pawl taking up the slack and maybe a dip in the road

but still, confusing

Just been to my local favourite garage (martinet motors in thornaby)

booked it in for an ac recharge (i suspect a hot summer this year)

and the transmission fluid to be replaced, as well as a quote/investigation on the creaking rear arms

next tuesday it's going in, i must really like this car as i normally wouldn't bother with the trans fluid etc

but

i don't want to hurt the car

i........

i love it

like seriously love it

2,500 miles covered in 3 weeks since i bought it

did 500 miles today, in complete comfort and serenity

zero issues, also weirdly the creaking seems to have stopped

Have you done the citroaerobics with it? Switch from high to low and back to standard - used to be recommended for lhm cars to move the fluid around. Fun doing it at traffic lights too to amaze other cars.
