VWPowered Posted December 19, 2009 Author Posted December 19, 2009 thought i'd fire up the beast give it a run to keep the old battery boosted and get some more pics in blimey forgot how cold it is outside
Lukas Posted December 19, 2009 Posted December 19, 2009 now our third day of snow Sounds a bit funny for an Austrian who is used to have snow from November until April. It´s got only ~ 10cm now because it still is too cold to snow, we have -9°C now. Had -15°C over night.
CortinaDave Posted December 19, 2009 Posted December 19, 2009 There seems to have been much more snow in England over the last five years or so then we've had here.. Yorkshire's had a few serious falls, whereas there's been nothing particularly severe here for a while.Which is crap - I love the snow! We've had no new falls since yesterday morning.
j-j Posted December 19, 2009 Posted December 19, 2009 I was just about to post a rant in the GOM thread about how or why we never get the snow we used to up here when the sky shat an hour's worth of hefty snow all over the place! I still act like a child when it snows. Of course, 2 hours later and most has melted away already but the pavements and grass are still white Yay! though I'd like it to fok off in time for Monday thankyou
dollywobbler Posted December 19, 2009 Posted December 19, 2009 It's getting nasty here now. Yesterday's snow is very, very icy. Used the BX to tow-start the Bond and it did it fine! Amazing car. More snow to follow tomorrow night apparently. That'll be fun for the Monday morning commute...
Mash Posted December 19, 2009 Posted December 19, 2009 Bugger the snow, I had all sorts planned over the next couple of weeks much of which involved being outside on the drive. Why can't Christmas be in August?
Ratdat Posted December 19, 2009 Posted December 19, 2009 Couple of inches of snow here. Don't mind the snow in the slightest TBH.
Mr Lobster Posted December 19, 2009 Posted December 19, 2009 It appears your house is missing some roof tiles unless it is some sort of optical illusion GR8 photo though!
scruff Posted December 19, 2009 Posted December 19, 2009 Couple of inches of snow here. Don't mind the snow in the slightest TBH.Ditto!! Went to a wedding in Sussex yesterday, 320 mile round trip. No probz at all, bit dicy in the village where no-one had driven through but I took the Land Rover out first thing and it was fine so we took SWMBO's Rover 200 down there. What's all the fuss about?!
Owain-328i Posted December 19, 2009 Posted December 19, 2009 Nothing in the cardiff area as usual. However brecon and 'merthyr' have had a sprinkling
mk1_4dr Posted December 19, 2009 Posted December 19, 2009 Just a light dusting here, although with the lack of warmth or rain the little bit has hung around and refrozen. I had to go for a little play yesterday.....
HillmanImp Posted December 19, 2009 Posted December 19, 2009 On the snow theme, please find attached a wonderful film of old trains and cold snow. Very enjoyable.
Mr Lobster Posted December 19, 2009 Posted December 19, 2009 Had a reasonable bit up here in 'Pennine Lancashire'. Supposed to have more tonight but its currently raining instead.OI MET OFFICE - UR WRONG AGAIN
pogweasel Posted December 19, 2009 Posted December 19, 2009 No moar snow here in Beds as yet. But my car is currently still buried under 4 inches or so. The nearside is clear, but I can only unlock it from the snowbound nearside, so I guess it will have to stay that way until it thaws.
andrew e Posted December 20, 2009 Posted December 20, 2009 Bugger I hope thats not what awaits come my monday night shift!
VWPowered Posted December 20, 2009 Author Posted December 20, 2009 still coming down here now the 4th day
Rusty Pelican Posted December 20, 2009 Posted December 20, 2009 A light dusting overnight thats now frozen solid , one huge skating rink
retrogeezer Posted December 20, 2009 Posted December 20, 2009 Went from Crewe to Blackpool and back yesterday (in the bluey) - no snow at all! Light dusting here this morning but sun is out now.
Guest Posted December 20, 2009 Posted December 20, 2009 Bring on the global warming, snow is rubbish! As of about an hour ago the weather has taken a nasty turn. This could mean I have to book a day off work tomorrow, but also means that I can't go to the off-licence. Mother nature is a cruel mistress.
RedSparrow Posted December 20, 2009 Posted December 20, 2009 Its really sunny and warm here for some reason. I was just getting used to the snow too!
MrSteve Posted December 20, 2009 Posted December 20, 2009 Finally got snow in Lancaster, but only a dismal centimetre
Lukas Posted December 20, 2009 Posted December 20, 2009 It´s got -11°C/12°F here so I can´t wash my car. It looks like that: I´m very glad I don´t have to drive the Camry now, the roads are so salty I´ll be able to sweep it out of the driveway next spring.
trigger Posted December 20, 2009 Posted December 20, 2009 I saw a burgundy 1975 Lancia Fulvia Coupe at the petrol station this morning on the side of the A12 in Colchester, He was washing the dirt of his windscreen, It had a big pile of snow on the roof, Sadly i was pasing at 60mph so i had no time to stop and take photos.
ChinaTom Posted December 20, 2009 Posted December 20, 2009 I saw a burgundy 1975 Lancia Fulvia Coupe at the petrol station this morning on the side of the A12 in Colchester, He was washing the dirt of his windscreen, It had a big pile of snow on the roof, Sadly i was pasing at 60mph so i had no time to stop and take photos.Saw same Fulvia coming up the A140 at Brome at about 12:45. Looked great - still covered in snow and really misted up inside. Same excuse for photos Hope the bus arrives soon for these two:Still plenty of white fluffy stuff around here:I saw you hiding there...
scruff Posted December 20, 2009 Posted December 20, 2009 Chucked down briefly earlier, too cold for anything to melt really.
trigger Posted December 20, 2009 Posted December 20, 2009 Saw same Fulvia coming up the A140 at Brome at about 12:45. Looked great - still covered in snow and really misted up insideWhat are the chances of that! He done well, It was about 11.40 when i saw him.It looked he he was suffering like i was with the frozen washer jets and wiper blades and dirty water of the road all over the screen, What a nightmare to drive in!
Milford Cubicle Posted December 20, 2009 Posted December 20, 2009 I derived quite a lot of joy from seeing a crashed Mercedes M-Class and a stuck BMW X5 on my way home today. Must have been a bit embarrassing for them to see mostly 2wd cars streaming past without much of an issue.I'm glad I stuck the snow tyres on the 405 as the last 40 miles home involved 1ft of unplowed snow most of the way. They are Kingpin Alpins, based on an old Michelin tread pattern and I can't find them any more - they're brilliant for a cheap remould tyre.
STUNO Posted December 20, 2009 Posted December 20, 2009 I,m waiting to hear from big sister, she is living 1/2 way between Sudbury & Colchester. there is about 1/2 a mile of farm track to get to the road so she may be stopping in.
Tonka Posted December 20, 2009 Posted December 20, 2009 Never get much snow here these days, having said that I've actually had to use the "snow mode" and 50/50 diff lock on the Stagea today but only to get the few hundred yards to the main road.
