Yeah the van has has plenty of coverage over tha last 5 years on TV and mags but ashamedly I haven't done a great deal to her since she came to these shores. I have a bit of a Boso/shakotan fetish  The GT I saved from Japcity scrapyard in Middlesbrough when I was tracking down parts for my Gold DX D16 ZC project. It had a mid 90'd Celica sat on its roof but is pretty sound and savable, so being a GT I think its worth doing. I have a doner polish civic supplying the majority of panels for the resto. The Starions, well mine and my better halfs are the later 2.6 turbo versions and my brother in laws is a slightly earlier 2 litre turbo but all are wide body versions. They are fit looking JDM muscle cars the Starions very masculine with the box arches. Fell in love with them way back doing my apprenticeship with Mitsubishi it was the first car I ever had airborn :DI'd post more on each car but not sure where to put build threads here :?: My brother in law has been telling me to get on here for ages, he's far more of a car encyclopedia than I am and praises Autoshite for not being all about the click and more about the love of cars than "some" sites. Some great threads on here, awesome reading :D

Those vans are crackers, there's a thread somewhere with the Elvis one in it!The Laurel is lovely, the C130 is my favourite large OJC.

What a thread! Just spent the last three days on and off reading through it all from page 1. Some fab photos and loads of great cars.

I don't currently have anything particularly shite, just future shite:

It's a 2006 Pontiac Wave, which is a Canada-only branding of the Daewoo Kalos/Chevrolet Aveo. Weird booted saloon version for extra points.

I bought it this past February as a replacement for my dearly loved Camry 3.0, which finally needed more spending on it than I was able to justify. Still miss it and want another:

BTW, SpottedLaurel, I still have those trims (15") sitting in my basement if you're interested.

My wife currently has this fabulous little 2000 Civic:

Is hard to think that that shape Civic is now 10 years old, I remember working on them when they was still new, The VTi's went like shit of a shovel!

Just bumping this up incase any of the new guys fancy showing us some photos of there cars!.

Another R8. I bought this around 3 years ago for £550 with 27k on the clock.

Thanks , it's on the Black Mountain Pass in the Brecon Beacons. Topgear and 5th Gear have used the very same road many times.

Hi,

my shite Renault 25 Td in the snow, taken on Wednesday in the Eifel (close to Nürburgring)

Posted Image

Posted Image

The Turbo-d actually is nice to drive. Does 100 miles/ hour happily for hours and is quite economical. (6-7L / 100km, Top speed 180km/h).

I had the Renault 20 gtd with basically the same engine, sans turbo. Turbo and atmo are like night and day. I would not drive the 64HP atmo in today's traffic.

The 21 pictured before is a petrol model.

Hey everyone,

Having enjoyed seeing what other people have, here's a few pics of what I used to have while in the US.

$700 of 1987 Mercury Cougar. 5.0l V8, column shift auto, whitewall tyres, fake wood and digital speedo. The only RWD I've owned. Half the people I knew said their grandad used to own one.

1989 Plymouth Sundance Turbo. I got this for free. So quick! Electrics and brakes needed a lot of work. Best feature was the bonnet that did not require a prop to stay open.

Posted Image

1996 Saab 900 Turbo. It was nice to have a car to trust on long journeys.

I was always surrounded by shite that was shite when it was new - the chap in the blue shirt owned Willows Garage in Monk's Eleigh who ditched BL in favour of Subaru, then Lonsdale, then Yugo and finally Lada. That's my old man's Allegro 1750HL on the right.

Posted Image

Still not found the photos of my first motor (Ceramic Blue Escort 1.3 Base), but these are some of the cars that have featured in my life since that.

I loved that Sunny. It said Pulsar GS on the back, but was basically a 1.6SLX. A Primera should be there too, but all photos are hidden away somewhere.

I didn't realise this was the place for "This is your shite life", but if that's the case, here goes..

My first Cortina. This photo taken when my mate Jeff owned it, and after he'd spent about six months tidying it up. This was it's first 'after MOT' run out.

Posted Image

I replaced it with this Mk2 Escort. Check out the cardie. I must have known it'd end up 'ere.

Posted Image

This was my second Mini, and my first 1275 GT. This was producing about 120 bhp with a very trick motor. Used to kill gearboxes regularly, but it was bloody quick compared to a low compression 1.3 Escort.

Posted Image

I swapped a tape deck for this LHD, late '60s I think, Beetle. I should have kept the tape deck.

Posted Image

This was my first Capri, a 1.6 GL with a 2.0 engine and Ghia interior. It was bull-buggeringly mint.

Posted Image

One of three Mk1 Escorts I've owned, this was a bog standard Base but fitted with a healthy 1.3 Sport engine and front disc brakes.

Posted Image

This was the first car I bought after passing my test (I bought an Austin Healey Sprite whilst taking lessons, but I've not got any pics of that)

Posted Image

This was the first Automatic I owned, a 2.0 GL Cortina with the most knackered inner wings I've ever seen on one.

Posted Image

Replaced it with this 2.0 GL manual which had good inner wings, but needed all the core plugs replacing. Core plugs are dead easy on 'em, so I didn't feel bad buying this for £40.

Posted Image

Got banned for totting up around this time... so built this to keep insurance down for a while.

Posted Image

As soon as my insurance dropped, I bought this and got myself banned again shortly afterwards. Not forgetting that this was back when you needed to get 12 points instead of the 6 new drivers need now. I suspect going sideways everywhere didn't do my licence much good. I blame Peco.

Posted Image

I swapped that for a brown Mk1 Mexico which some lunatic had fitted with a 180 bhp Fiat Twin Cam. I'll have to dig out photos of that.

In fact, I need to scan in a load more photos, but here are some more shite highlights.

I'll post a few hundred more when I scan 'em in.

Used to be involved in rallying this thing as well, this was fun. (This is the only photo I could find of it, but I've got loads to scan.)

Is that enough shite for now?

My present boring shite:

My current daily, which is crippling me thanks to it's 0 suspension and presence of no practicality (I got stuck in the back seat getting something out - I couldn't turn around to get out  ).

Posted Image

I bought this after scrapping my second mk2 Escort in 2002 as I was sick of 10 years of Ford and needed a change. I was going to buy a BMW K reg 318, but my dad recommended I get this and save some money:

It's a 1.4 LSi, which is quite well specced for near-base spec:

Posted Image

I nearly put a Vectra GSi V6 in it, but then sold it and put a 300bhp Calibra engine I bought off Migweb in 2005 (which was destined for my Locost which got sold), and has not been driven. I put it in the garage in 2004, and it hasn't moved out since.

Posted Image

I bought one of these shortly after the black one. These are funking great cars.

Posted Image

This is the missus'. Repairs have now spiralled well over £2k since 2007. :(

I dunno, I have a pair of cords just like that, and a 'stache, and too much hair, so I reckon you look cool! No doubt i'll be looking back at pictures of myself in 30 years time and thinking 'what the fuck...?' as well though!

Great pic RP! The 180B did pretty well and survived until 1996 according to DVLA. 18 years was good going, but at that time they were becoming sought-after for export/banger racing.

I had a T-reg one just the same colour back in 1996-98 (YPK525T, DVLA says it’s still taxed, hurrah!).

Nice photo CT. The Allegro presumably came from Willows then? Whereabouts did you live and go to school when you were down in Suffolk?
Posted

I was born in Bury St Eds, but we moved to Peterborough in 1975 so I never went to school in Suffolk. The rest of my family did though - the old man went to King Edward grammar (kicked out at 15 though). Hundreds of my relations on my old man's side probably made up a fair percentage of the Bury schools population - grandfather was one of 16 kids! The Allegro was from Willows as was the Triumph 2000, Toledo, Dollies and various Morrises that came before it. The car dealerships were all on my mother's side of the family - she's an Ipsidge geel (Ipswich). The old Massey Ferguson dealership in Ipswich (still there Trigger?) used to be in that side of the family too.
