And home.

Good god it drives fantastic with the new clutch! Obviously no slip but also the pedal is much lower, could pass as a 10 year old car the way it drives.. I love it.

If it wasn’t for the fact I want to cherish it, I could daily this with ease.

Tucked up in its new ‘garage’ with plenty of room and also popped the new old original BMW keyring on that a fellow shiter found me on eBay!

Probably my favourite BMW. My brother owned a dark blue 318 SE four door for over twelve years and it was a great car.

Feel like I might take the Retro Rides one off but I love the other one.

I still have the RR sticker from the 305 on my fridge!

Mr Fish bought it in the end, he tried to save it and do a mad engine transplant but, it was far too rotten on proper inspection and got fragged.

My Mrs nearly cried when I showed her the pic of it hanging from a strap off a HiAb arm, she loved that thing.

I, on the other hand, fucking hated it after I'd driven it about 5 times.

To each, their own!

It was a cool car! My other half still talks about it now. I loved the bathroom door lock on the glovebox the most.

Was a nice touch!

The cardboard needed to keep the windows from dropping was another, as well as the back one coming off the runner when opened.

The kids thought it was great, so did Vikki. I liked the look of it but, hated driving it. :-)

Took it out for a drive today so got some better photos.

It was fantastic, sat in an E30 listening to The Jam greatest hits cassette with the Feu Orange hanging from the rear view.. 1989 all over again!

I have also picked up some wheels tonight but I’m having second thoughts so going to test fit one side tomorrow so I can decide to keep or sell.

Hoovie has just bought a red E30 and has put a couple of YouTube videos up about why you should buy a BMW from the last century over the newer stuff.

I’ll give it a watch! Thanks

I’m massively torn.

I got these cheap, they need a refurb and I’d get BMW badges for them but I thought I’d stick them on as a test fit.

I think I like them.

Thumbs up from me. Nice summer set with decent summer tyres. The others can possibly be used as a winter set.

Yeah I think I like them, I’ll give them a refurb and try them for a while.

Are they reps, Lenso 16s?

Personally I think these look best on a 15 inch wheel, particularly at standard height, but when I last had one you could get a set of OEM 15 inch BBS for £50 or so, guess that's not the case now.

Absolutely, Lenso BSX. Plan is a refurb and some BMW badges for the caps so they look a bit more OEM.

Ah 15” OEMs, the centre caps alone for those are £50+ each now, wheels are £350 without the caps.. I’ll stick to reps!

I’ll look to get a set of 40mm springs on it at some point to bring it down to a more sensible height.

Got the wheels on properly today - 15mm spacers on the front, spigot rings and BMW gel badges for the centre caps.

Haven’t bothered refurbishing them yet but I’m pretty happy with how it looks - just looks a bit high now.

£100 he’s asked for, WTF. He’ll be getting double that!

He probably enjoyed doing the job and did it on a quiet day. So perhaps felt guilty if he asked for too much.

The last few updates to this thread have made me cherish my bog standard low-spec E36 even more.

Is that a subtle way of you saying you don’t like the wheels? 😂

I do like an E36 but to me it’s the Mk3 Golf of 3 series’

They’re nice cars but I don’t think they’ll ever have that iconic side that the earlier ones do. Much like how a Mk2 Golf does in comparison to a Mk3,  I feel an E30 does compared to an E36.

Yeah that’s kind of how it came across. He said it reminded him of the touring he had 25yrs ago..

It's a subtle way of saying it's going precisely the same way as every other old BMW with the BBS wheels and the lowering springs. It genuinely looked absolutely drop-dead gorgeous at standard ride height on standard wheels.

But, as they say, your car to do with as you want.

Nail on the head! Making it exactly how I want it with a couple of very mild, easily reversible parts that I can return to standard with no evidence within an hour or two. Happy days!

I think it looked better on the original wheels but then I have a Triumph 1300TC with lowered springs and Dolomite Sprint wheels so that makes me a complete hypocrite. Ah well, not for the first time.

To be fair it looks good either way. The E30 was BMW's finest hour. The style is just so clean and crisp.

Two  opinions here.I love it with the steels and I love it with alloys!

Great looking car either way

I love the look of the BBS style wheels. But, having got an E30 with them on, the downside is keeping the buggers clean.

Took these last week before the snow but just quick update...

MOT today, failed on a blowing exhaust, rear fog bulb and annoyingly an indicator bulb that blew on the way to the test centre.

Now has 12 months MOT with no advisories.

and a very quick pre-MOT back on steels...

Congratulations on getting the MOT! For a 30+ year old car, that isn’t a bad fail list. Every time I see this thread it reminds me how much I’d like an E30. It looks nice on the steels too

Yeah it’s certainly won my heart.

it’s been sat in my tent/garage since before Xmas and has been driven probably 10 miles since the clutch was replaced so the battery was flat as a pancake.. set of jump leads and it started first time in the -4 temps, ran like an absolute dream and is comfier to drive than my daily...

Surely some Kraftwerk and Red Braces would be more befitting of this?? I know its a few years before this cars birth, but you can't win em all
