This outcome has saddened me so much, I'm going to go and start mine up for the first time in a month and apologise to it for leaving dumped in the road for so long.

Oh no! I saw this on Farcebook but didn't twig it was the 'other' Autoshite C6. Now it's just me

You’re not alone Rich, I am also here with a C6, Petrol powered bankrupting monster.

By not starting? Possibly? Just a guess. I didn't try or anything.

Honest.

Given how high the exhaust gas temperature gets during a regen cycle, basically anything going awry in the vicinity could be a recipe for fire.  At those temperatures pretty much anything that isn't completely non flammable will become fuel.

Flash point of LDS fluid is 155C, so well within the range you're likely to find in areas of an engine bay if you had a leak somewhere bad.

Given how much stuff is crammed into the engine bay on these trying to figure out the cause is probably going to be nigh impossible without spending a lot of time on it...even then unless an obvious flash point is visible it's likely to still be largely speculation.

Oh gawd. I'd also seen the pics on Facebook and not made the connection. So glad you got out of it. Horrible.

From the pictures of the fire it looks as if some fluid is burning vigrously. I was wondering if high pressure LDS or diesel was being flamethrower'd onto the tarmac.

Insurance report has arrived.

No conclusion of cause.

They've offered less than half market value 😠

I will be rejecting their generous offer...

That's so sad.

I had a car set on fire once on my mums driveway, nothing more saddening than the burnt hulk of a car, and the smell is awful too

Wow, wasn't much left was there...hope you get a more reasonable settlement out of them in due course.

It unfortunately seems that insurance companies would rather waste money spending months arguing over a settlement than give a fair valuation straight away. They don't care that the general public has a very low opinion of them.

So is this when you find out if you have a good ins co, or are they all much the same?

Where have the doors gone?  Are the aluminium and therefore no more?

I hope you get an honest settlement.  Get looking for some adverts for similar machinery and send them to your loss adjuster.
