2010 Vauxhall Corsa

I thought I'd start a thread on my OH's Corsa 1.0 as it was feeling left out as my Focus has a thread. Bought 3 years ago in July at about 75k miles from a local dealer to replace a Suzuki Alto that she didn't get on with its now at 103k and has been very good. It has developed a problem with the n/s mirror though, at higher speeds (50-60mph) the mirror wobbles although it seems to be attached properly, has anyone any ideas what could be causing it?

The wind?

Could be but I've not noticed any car mirror behaving like that before though

Is it just the mirror itself that shakes about or the whole housing?

If it's the former, all my 90s and 00s Vauxhall's did that, except it was usually on the driver's side. It came and went every 6 months or so.

It seems to be just the mirror itself that does it, she took me out in it earlier to show me. Thanks @Split_Pin

My OH's Corsa, quite a nice colour.

That's not hugely dissimilar to the 1995 Corsa Breeze my mum had way back when. I think hers was called Atlantis Blue (even though it was definitely purple) I wonder if it's the same colour.

Could be, or a variation of. I'm not sure what Vauxhall called this colour, anyone got a Corsa brochure from 2010?

No brochure, but curiosity got the better of me and I've done some digging. Apparently it is a colour called Rainbow Blue, terrible name, but a good colour.

All I could get on Google was pictures of Corsas in that colour.

The Purple Peril as the Corsa is referred to is booked in for MOT on Monday, like me she would rather get the MOT done and we know the car is safe then.

Have you a reasonably priced local place (ie not autoglass) that can replace the windscreen for you?

Posted

Wheel alignment seems like an odd thing to put on an mot? I mean, that's true, but it doesn't belong on the MOT.

I have come across some odd advisories before, my mums old Colt once got an advisory for wheel trims being fitted.

Booked in for new windscreen next Monday.

My OH arrived home yesterday looking hot and bothered, turns out the air con has stopped working on the purple peril. I think it needs a regas, although when the blowers are on there's a sort of whining noise as well that doesn't sound right. Has anyone any ideas what else could be wrong?

Been nothing to report on the Corsa until today when the bastard has decided to break down on a dual carriageway slip road. EML came on and it started chugging and not running properly. Currently waiting for the RAC. Fuck knows what's wrong with it

The cavalry arrived, apparently the spark plugs and a coil are fucking fucked m8.

Coil packs?

They're a favourite on these and come as a pack of 3/4 all ingeniously joined together so you have to replace the whole lot at considerable expense rather than just replacing the one that's failed. Definitely worked like that an my brother's 15 reg when his went.

Sounds about right lol. Yeah it's the spark plugs and a coil apparently

^ Literally posted that at the exact minute you updated to confirm my suspicion.

Unfortunately TADTS re coilpacks- Expensive, but easy to change.

It is odd, but I suppose it is advice!

The former Shirley Knott and current @Broadsword Lupo has an advisory in the MOT history for the timing belt being due..

I've looked at lots of MOT histories and never seen that before or since!

If you check the service book you'll see that amazingly the previous owner had it done shortly after that too, so it worked!

Anyway- Apologies to @Eyersey1234 for the thread derailment.
