So I thought I had no need for 2 cars in the house again so I’m just getting the beetle ready for sale I’ll pop it up on here when it’s ready. I might be tempted to roffle it if there’s enough interest.

But!!!!!

walking the dog yesterday I spotted a very tidy car for sale. I text the number and got a reply, the keys were hidden I was told where they were and to take a look around the car and ring him if I wanted it!

Approved Covid Safe Sale

Soooo I’ve bought it. No idea why other than it’s really really tidy. I almost certainly won’t be keeping it but thought it a fun little thing to run around in if needs be.

I take your golf in a skirt and raise you a corsa in a crop top!!!

The roof works and everything!! Drives really well.

Must have taken them about 8 seconds to design the car ? it really is a corsa with a roof chop.

Eh? It's good to see you had a word with yourself and sorted that out!

Tis the only way so now I have 3 instead of 1

Used some new drill brushes I ordered yesterday on the number plate of all places!

For some reason the Beetle had two number plates on the back?? Anyhow I got the tar and glue out (which always works but is time consuming) and an old card and started picking away at the old backing. Until I remembered the new brushes. Soft scouring pad made a half an hour job into a 5 minute one.

I love little jobs like this because I’m useless with the spanner’s!

First little run out for this today really. Drives really well! Almost glacially slow mind but I suppose that’s not what it’s about!
Seems to be running a little cold but otherwise no complaints.

dare I say I almost like it ?

Managed to get this cleaned up and polished today I think it looks well!! Half debadged it too yo!!! Only because the Vauxhall was missing an L mind. Must have given me at least an extra 5bhp which it needs to be fair.

Think I’ll put a for sale thread up for this soon and see what other chod I can get my hands on! Canny little car this one!

I’ve never really owned anything really autoshite worthy. Possibly a pretty scabby e30 325i many moons ago. There a bit cool for autoshite now! But thought I’d see what photos I could find of the chod I have had. I’ve never paid more than about £1000 for a car (until very recently with the I3 but that’s the Mrs car and it comes out of her account so I’m not counting it) and thankfully only ever had 1 FTP in a Laguna about 200m from my front door.

No one cares but I’m going to have a dog around and see if I can find photos of stuff and stick it on here. If nothing else it will put all of my photos in one place. There won’t be a chronological order it will be as I find the photos!!!

Looking through my old retrorides account (because covid) and came across probably the favourite car I’ve ever owned it’s a toss up between this and a e38 740i that I gave £1k for I wish I still had them both.

Id love another of these. Aero, Pre facelift, estate, with a jerkomatic.

this was bought unseen and delivered on a transporter only to find that it smoked on start up and a poof when backing off. I bought a £400 saloon version to rob parts from but quickly realised it was a much better car so kept it and sold the estate. I think I gave £700 for it and sold it on still running and driving fine. I’d love to know what happened to it. Not ultra rare or particularly special but at 23 I’m not sure I could have gone much faster for the money!!!

9-5 Aero HOT estates are exceptional cars, especially in manual form :)

The saloon I had was manual (and got me into a considerable amount of trouble)

I just love autos for day to day. Id love to get my hands on another one.

So there is nothing that autoshite about a diesel Honda. However it is brown??

Collected this fine specimen today from just along the road. It’s had a couple of shitter owners it was cheap and brought pretty close to me, I couldn’t really not buy it.

I give you a metallic brown spaceship!!

Ive owned one before and they are pretty bomb proof but the interiors don’t wear very well and look pretty grubby pretty quickly so while I had a spare half hour it was out with the drill brushes and the interior feels much less Covid 19 now.

Gave this a wash today! It might even get some polish tomorrow and the blacks gone over. It’s a weird colour I can’t decide if I like it or not?

Galaxy Grey actually! ??

But yes they're pretty much brown. That and velour inside as standard, proper future AS material in 10-15 years?

I quite liked those spaceship Civics when they launched, and I don't do new cars. That colour ain't the best though,

I like that they look like a three door but are five - seem to recall the rear doors open to 90 degrees so you can get a bike in through the car?

Probably! And you can flip the rear bench up so you have a massive space.

Just got this too to remove the stereo to put a standard one in.

looks like the alpine unit in there now is nearly worth as much as the car.

Why did this happen?

Stock stereo packed up and started making loud beeps and other irritating noises even when off. You need to remove the arm rest moulding and keep going up until you get to the head unit to replace it. Probably why Honda never bothered putting a security code on the stock radio or Sat Nav system!

TBF it looks worse than it is. Did it in about an hour in sub zero temperatures one winter evening.

Y tho?

The standard stereo is pretty crap and it's a lot of work.

Oooh nice civic! I did have a look at the late last year but the prices hadn't fully dropped to my affordability bar ones that were just fucked.

Can't ever like the beetle though, my brain just isn't wired up. I get the cheap convertible though, I've been tempted before and it's probably the only fairly sensible removable roof option out there that is also cheap... Think I'd have the tigra over the vw though, which is qlmost like saying I'd rather the sick just came out of my mouth rather than mouth and nose
